Established and managed the Office of Special Funding, serving as the single point of contact
for peer reviewed applicants seeking support, prioritizing requests for funding along with the
NVPs office. Developing SOPs establishing best practices for oversight, review, tracking and
providing an audit trail of all research restricted funds received and awarded. Manage staff
during peer review process, reviewing and assessing project budgets. Interpreting, reviewing
and providing feedback as necessary on programmatic budgets. Effectively communicate with
diverse stakeholders across multiple departments/divisions increasing revenue and donor
stewardship. Improve partnerships with faculty and their respective institutions increasing
annual and final reporting outcomes, improving program evaluation utilizing detailed data

Oversight and administration of the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) funding,
a collaborative initiative between ACS, Cancer Research UK (CRUK), and the Framework
Convention Alliance (FCA), a partnership formed to impact and reduce global tobacco growth
rates outside the continental US and the resulting Cancer pandemic. Served as the single point
of contact working with each NGO, applying for and receiving funding. Reviewing and
interpreting their eligibility to receive funding. Issued award funding working closely with legal,
monitored and maintained accountability of funding and reporting.
Key Accomplishments:
Facilitated and secured program project funding with the Framework Convention on
Tobacco Control grants advocacy program between non-governmental organizations
(NGOs) and ACS
Procurement efforts resulted in $450,000 of funding throughout my tenure
Built and maintained working relationships with advocacy groups to positively impact the
effort to reduce the worldwide burden of smoking and its global impact on cancer rates
Spearheaded cross-functional initiatives to achieve the overarching goals of this

Key Accomplishments:
Increased research productivity by 350 percent to support growth of the Colleges
funding efforts
Assisted in procuring $8.8 million to establish and expand the Center for Biomedical and
Behavioral Research from the National Center for Minority Health and Health Disparities
Aided in procuring $5 million from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences to
increase the number of minority women who hold Ph.D. degrees in biomedical research
by the creation of a teaching/learning environment
Served as the lead negotiator in procuring funding from the Morehouse School of
Medicine/NSF to establish a Health Careers Program to increase the pipeline of minority
doctors who go on to serve in underserved areas
Led negotiations with the National Science Foundation to provide the Atlanta Systemic
Initiative with more than $550,000 for a mentoring program for high school science and
math faculty and girls
