Similes are a way of comparing two things using LIKE or AS:
He eats like a pig He is as quiet as a mouse.

Some adjectives can have more than one meaning. We can say, Tom is
as bright as day. Bright has two meanings, it can mean shiny or clever.
Using the second meaning makes for an interesting simile.
