Book Report File The Curious Incident
Book Report File The Curious Incident
I recommend this book to everyone because this book is different from any
other book I have ever read. The book is written just like Christopher is
telling the story from his own point of view, and we get a special
opportunity to understand the mind of a teenage with Asperger's
Syndrome. Christopher is facing difficult dilemmas throughout the book,
and the ways he handles them are both funny and sad. In some situations
it seems like everything around Christopher is blowing up and he just can't
understand it. Also, the plot of the book is not linear. One chapter can end
up just when a major event happens, and the next one might be a
description of a dream of Christopher or even be a math problem! This is
something special which I have never seen in another book.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I highly recommend it.
Creative assignment:
List 5 characters from the book you have read. Give three examples of
what each character learned or did not learn in the book.
Christopher:
Ed didn't learn to accept Judy again. When Judy comes back home
with Christopher after ending her affair, Ed doesn't allow her to stay
in his home. Ed is angry at her because he had to take care of
Christopher alone while she lived in London.
Ed didn't learn to be calmer. Often in the book, Ed uses strong
language against Christopher and even hit him once. Also at the
end, when he and Judy arguing, he insult her and break into her
house.
Ed learned how to take care of Christopher. Because of everything
they had been through together, Ed knows exactly how to treat
Cristopher, and at the end, "won his heart" by buying him a dog.
Judy Boone:
Judy didn't learn how to get her life on the right track. After she left
home, Judy lived in a small apartment and worked in a temporary
job. When Christopher came, he took over all of her attention and
she got fired from her job and broke out with Mr. Shears.
Judy didn't learn to accept Ed again. Judy didnt make peace with
Ed. She fights him on whoever will take care of Christopher and go
into his house without permission.
Judy learned what is good for her. She decided to leave her mean,
violent boyfriend, Mr. Shears, and to come back home, although
without success.
Mr. Shears:
