4 NEW FEATURES
Hardware Security Upgrade Kit with RECOVERY-10-02
The Hardware Security Upgrade Kit (HSUK) is used to upgrade legacy non-FIPS-compatible PTP
600 hardware manufactured by Motorola Solutions. The HSUK now loads RECOVERY-10-02. The
HSUK with RECOVERY-10-02 should be used to operate legacy non-FIPS-compatible hardware with
FIPS application software of 600-10-06 or later.

Note
The recovery upgrade has the potential to completely disable an ODU if the upgrade is
interrupted (for example by a power failure). An ODU disabled in this manner must be
returned to Cambium Networks for repair (for charge). We recommend that the
upgrade is NEVER applied to ODUs deployed within a network.

5 PROBLEMS AND LIMITATIONS CORRECTED

Ping from external network causes ARPs on the local network
In 600-10-06 and 600-10-07, the IP interface generates an ARP request to resolve the IP address of a
host requesting an ICMP Echo (in other words, a host sending a ping) even when the requesting
host is not in the directly-connected network. In 600-10-08, the IP interface correctly sends the
response via the default gateway.

HTTPS not working correctly with Firefox

In earlier releases, the HTTPS interface fails to handle HTTPS messages introduced in recent
updates to popular web-browsers including Firefox. This problem has been resolved in 600-10-08.

Missing plotter data in the diagnostics file

In releases between 600-10-00 and 600-10-07, diagnostics files do not contain data for plots
normally displayed on the Diagnostic Plotter page unless the operator has first visited this web
page using a web-browser. The problem is resolved in 600-10-08.

6 KNOWN PROBLEMS OR LIMITATIONS

Software upgrade and downgrade
Some limitations apply in the software upgrades and downgrades allowed by PTP 600. The
supported upgrades and downgrades are detailed in Table 1 and Table 2. Upgrades and
downgrades not listed here are not supported.

Upgrade from application software

A unit with existing application software of 600-10-00 or later can be upgraded to 600-10-08 in a
single step following the standard upgrade process described in Upgrading software version on
page 6-18 of the User Guide.
A unit with existing application software earlier than 600-10-00 should be upgraded to 600-10-08 in
two steps by (a) installing any version of application software from 600-10-00 to 600-10-05 inclusive
as an intermediate step and then (b) installing 600-10-08 application software. Software for
600-10-05 is provided in the downloadable software package.
Further details are provided in Table 1.

Upgrade from recovery software

Application software can be installed from recovery mode using the upgrade process described in
Upgrading software image on page 7-60 of the User Guide. This method is used when the
application software cannot be used to install a later application software version.
Application software 600-10-08 can be loaded directly using RECOVERY-10-02.
For ODUs with RECOVERY-09-00 or an older recovery version, proceed in two steps by (a) using
recovery mode to install any version of application software from 600-10-00 to 600-10-05 inclusive
as an intermediate step and then (b) using this intermediate application software to install
600-10-08 application software. Software for 600-10-05 is provided in the downloadable software
package.
Further details are provided in Table 2.

Upgrading recovery software

Recovery software can be upgraded to RECOVERY-10-02 using the RECOVERY-UPGRADE-10-02
application provided in the downloadable software package. Consider this option for ODUs that
have not yet been deployed if they will in future be used with application software 600-10-08.
Application software will be erased during the recovery upgrade and must be reloaded using
Recovery mode. The wireless link does not operate in Recovery mode.

Note
Never use the recovery upgrade at a remote ODU managed via a wireless link. The
wireless link will be lost when the application software is erased. If this happens, a site
visit will be needed to load new application software.

MLD general listener query messages

In 600-10-08, the ODU does not process IPv6 Multicast Listener Discovery version 1 (MLDv1)
general listener query messages reliably.
