USE61400-25 - Principles, Topologies, Applications

IEC 61400-25 defines an information model, services, and communication profiles for wind power plants. The standard provides a unified way for different systems to access and exchange information. It allows any compliant client to understand and interact with any compliant server or device independently of the manufacturer. This helps integrate wind power plants and their components into energy management and control systems.

UNIFIED INFORMATION MODEL

Any IEC 61400-25 client shall be able to understand any IEC 61400-
25 server (for example, a wind turbine or wind power plant proxy)
independently of the manufacturer or provider.

Data semantic is predefined. Two different systems must provide the

same data with the same naming (data reference) and structure.

Question: Where is this unified model defined?

Answer: In the document IEC 61400-25-2.
IEC 61400-25 base concepts

Without IEC 61400-25: the information is published in different formats.

Wind speed = modbus OPC data

With IEC 61400-25: the same information is published in the same format.

UNIFIED SERVICE MODEL

Any IEC 61400-25 client shall be able to get access to any IEC
61400-25 server (with the appropriate access rights, of course).

 Services are divided in groups:

 Association services
 Self-description services
 Data access
 Control
 Reporting (event-driven communication)
 Logging

Question: Where is this information exchange model defined?

Answer: In the document IEC 61400-25-3.
