En 1090 Technical Requirement

1. Hand thermal cutting should only be used if machine cutting is impractical, and go/no-go gauges must check hole ends. 2. Sharp edges and corners under 5mm radius are prohibited. 3. Preheating, measurement points, welding parameters, and weld inspection/testing must meet various ISO standards including ISO 3834, 13916, and 5817 depending on material grade and exposure class. 4. A qualified welding coordinator is required for exposure classes EX2-EX4 to oversee procedure testing and have technical knowledge per ISO 14731.

EN 1090 - Guideline Highlight points

Cutting
1. Hand thermal cutting should be used only if the machine thermal cutting not able to use pratically

Holing
1. Go & no-go gauges shall be used to check both ends of the hole

Cut outs
1. Sharp edges shall not be permitted
2. All corners must be rounded-off with min 5 mm radius to be maintained

Preheating
1. The pre heating temperature shall meet the requirement mentioned in EN 1011-2 Clause 12 Figu

Point of preheat measurement


1. The point of temperature measurements shall be in accordance with EN ISO 13916
2. The measurement distance shall be at least 75 mm from the center of weld

Welding
1. Welding parameters ans specification apply EN ISO 3834 or 14554 as applicable
2. Welding procedure test pieces need to be produced under supervision of certification body
3. For EX2 clause materials S355 is acceptable to use pre-qualified welding procedures
4. EX2, EX3 & EX4 require that welding co-ordinator need to be appointed
5. The welding co-ordinator needs to be suitably or experienced specified in EN ISO 14731
6. The welding co-ordinator must be knowing the technical knowledge specified in EN ISO
7. EX2, EX3 and EX4 require tack welds are included in a qulaified welding procedure
8. The inspection of welds in accordance with EN 970

Acceptance criteria for welding imperfections


The levels of imperfections shall be in accordance with EN ISO 5817 Cluase C for EXC2
