Notes on Approach to Problem


You will next consider the amount of production you could get from one truck if there were no delays for
spotting at the load point and a loader was always immediately available to load. You will examine whether
your trucks ability to carry load is limited by the weight it can carry or the volume it can hold given the loose
density of the material you will haul. You will then add consideration for the number of passes to load the
truck since this will impose a minumum time to load. It is also possible that you may elect to slightly
underfill your truck rather than make an almost empty additional pass. This would of course mean that
your trucks load would be limited neither by its weight or volume capacity but by a practical number of passes
by the loader. With these considerations the number of trucks required will be calculated. This number
will usually be the minimum number since other factors may further limit the production per truck.

The number of passes you selected to fill your truck may alter the fill factor of your loader bucket - ie. Your load
fill factor is limited by the need to match the truck rather than by the characteristics of the material you are
handling. If this is the case, your loader may produce less than if the truck was no constraint. The program
automatically will check to see if you need to change your number of loaders because of changing fill factor
to match the truck.

Notes on Approach to Problem


Loaders and trucks can in fact work in several different loading configurations. Those configurations can influe
spotting time for your trucks which can in turn change your trucks cycle time. Truck spotting times will also usu
affect the amount of time your loader is actually loading material as well as the swing time for some loaders. T
considerations can change the number of loaders and trucks required to meet production. In this step you will
