Executive Summary
First of all we gathered the information from internet and then we
started analyzing about the current situation of HR department of
PEPSICO and COKE. We also visit these two companies. During this
process of analyzing the HR Department we came across some
problems prevailing in the company.

Human Resource Management is the planning, organizing, directing and controlling of the
development, compensation, maintenance and separation of human resources to the end that
individual, organizational and social objectives are accomplished.

TRAINING & DVELOPMENT:
Training is a process of learning a sequence of programmed behaviours. It is an act of
increasing the knowledge and skills of employees, for performing a particular job. Newly
recruited employees require training so as to perform their task effectively. Instruction,
coaching, guidance helps them to handle jobs completely, without any wastage.
1. Prevents obsolescence:
These programs help employees to keep themselves up to date with the new trends in latest
technology, which reduces the chances of termination of the job.
These programs help new employees to adjust themselves in a new working environment,
culture and technology. They feel themselves as regular employees of that organization.
It helps organizations to easily achieve their targets and goals what they actually planned for.
Employees know their job better and they deliver the quality performance according to needs
of top management. That's why organizations can easily implement their plans.
4. Health and safety measures:
Training and development program clearly identifies and teaches employees about the
different risk involved in their job, the different problems that can arise and how to prevent
such problems. This helps to improve the health and safety measures in the company.
INTRODUCTION OF COCA-COLA:
Coca-Cola Company founded in 1886, this company is the worlds leading manufacturer,
marketer and distributor of the nonalcoholic beverage concentrates and syrups. The
companys corporate headquarters are in Atlanta, with local operations in over 200 countries
around the world.
Although Coca-Cola was first created in United States, it quickly became popular wherever it
went. Our first international bottling plants opened in 1906 in Canada, Cuba and Panama,
soon followed by many more. Today, we produce more than 300 brands. More than 70
percent of our income comes from the outside the U.S., but the reason we are a truly global
company is that our products meet the varied taste preferences of consumers everywhere.
In Pakistan:
The Coca-Cola Company is a global company with some of the world's most widely
recognized brands, the Coca-Cola business in Pakistan has completed its 80 years of
operation. The beverages are produced locally, employing Pakistani citizens. And their
product range and marketing reflects Pakistani tastes and lifestyles, and they are deeply
involved in the life of the local communities in which they operate History. The Coca-Cola
Company began operating in Pakistan in 1953. John Steward is the owner of Coca-Cola
Company in Pakistan. Brands Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite Bottling Information the Coca-Cola
System in Pakistan operates through twelve bottlers, 10 of which are owned by Coca-Cola
Beverages Pakistan Limited, out of these twelve plants now eight are operating. The CCBPL
plants are in Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore, Gujrawala, Faisalabad, Rahimyar Khan, Multan
and Sialkot. The remaining two plants, independently owned, are in Rawalpindi and
Peshawar. Its headquarter is in Lahore.

At PEPSICO, their belief is that "their people are their greatest asset. They take great pride in
acknowledging the contribution each one of them makes".
Pepsi-cola was first made in New Bern in 1898. It is a huge company as well as coca-cola.
This company has a big competitor like; coca-cola. This company not only produces the
drinks but as well as foods. PepsiCo headquarter is located in New York.
In Pakistan:
The market in Pakistan is surely dominated by Pepsi. It has proven itself to be the No.1 soft drink in
Pakistan. Now days Pepsi is recognized as Pakistanis National drink. In 1971, first plant of Pepsi was
constructed in Multan, and from there after Pepsi is going higher and higher. Pepsi is the choice soft
drink of every one. It is consumed by all age groups because of its distinctive taste. Compared with
other Cola in the market, it is a bit sweeter and it contributes greatly to its liking by all. Consumers
survey results explain the same outcome and Pepsi has been declared as the most wanted soft drink of
Pakistan. Its headquarter is also in Lahore.

foods and beverages. We seek to produce financial rewards to investors as we provide

VISION STATEMENT:
Training process is essential part of every employee. Without training employee cannot come
to know the procedure of work, rules and regulation of firm. When new technology is
introduced it is also responsibility of a firm to train its employees.
After recruiting the fresh employee, they are trained for three months and also pay them
salaries after three months they become part of a firm. Coca Cola also give training to
existing employee depending upon the condition. For example, if new technology is
introduced first of all, full training is given about new technology then they are allowed to
start their new job.
Coca-Cola Company provides three types of training to their employees such as skills
training, technical training, leadership training.
Skills training are important to introduce the operations of company and basic skills
requirements that are needed in a position. It includes presentation, selling and public
speaking. It helps in developing creative thinking skills, communication skills and other skills
essential to the long term survival of the organization.
Technical training provide by Coca-Cola Company aims to improve the professional skills of
employees. It helps to save time, prepare for promotion and improve work performance.
Technical training session usually is a practical training and can be carried out in a classroom.
Leadership training is suitable for those who hope to become outstanding in their business
field. It trains future managers and as well as current leaders and managers. Employees can
learn many different skills such as time management, management assessment, management
skills assessment, executive assessment, management consulting, effective listening and other
related skills. Effective listening skill help leaders learn how to listen and build trust with all
employees and customers. All the skills learned can apply in real working life to make things
really stick together.

PEPSICO has trained and developed many of its senior and fast track managers and
supervisors. For lower and technical staff the organization have a complete training calendar
for the year, if organization thinks and feel that an employee requires training to update his
knowledge about the field, he just have to report the HR department and he will be listed for
the next training program.

EXTERNAL SOURCES:
These are formal training opportunities that PEPSICO offers to employees either internally or
externally. A trainer, facilitator and/or subject matter expert are brought into the organization
to provide the training session or an employee are be sent to one of these learning
opportunities during work time. These training opportunities are provided in the form of
seminars, classroom training courses and workshops.
Pepsi Company also provides three types of training but one type is different from coke, to
their employees such as skills training, technical training, and functional training.
Skills training help in developing creative thinking skills, communication skills and other
skills essential to the long term survival of the organization. At the same time, it helps to
increase the productivity of employees and improves their job satisfaction.
Technical training helps to build the self confidence of employees, save time, and improve
work performance. Pepsi Company concentrated on the job training program to focus on the
routine needs in each office across the continent and there will be a number of local training
initiatives catering to particular regional needs.
Functional training involves diplomas or degrees in the respective field of expertise. Pepsi-
Cola Company launched Pepsi-Cola University (PCU) a virtual, global university for all
learning and capability building activities across all company. It carries out best practices
research and provides coaching and consulting services to transfer learning between different
parts of Pepsi-Cola system. The advantages of functional training are to be able to complete
the tasks, offer associates training and workshops on time management that provide flexible
work arrangements in some areas of business and provide tools and resources to allow work
to be done efficiently and effectively in normal workday.

In both companies, training increases job skills-specific skills and it is short term perspective
while development shapes attitude and overall growth and it is long term perspective. In
training, the job is centred and the role of trainer is very important but in development, career
is cantered and internally motivated for self development. Although both carries a different
function but combination of these two stages can boost both companies sales drastically,
because if newcomers are provided with proper training and development, mistakes that will
be made by them can be reduced which is directly increasing the Companys productivity. In
both companies training process is helpful in providing clear understanding of job to all
employees.
