20 March 2017

Dear fellow Senior golfers and partners,

A hearty welcome to the 2017 Senior National Tournament. We look forward to hosting you for
what we hope will be an enjoyable, fun week in one of the worlds great cities!

There are a few housekeeping items I would like to cover to help make your stay as comfortable
and hassle free as possible.

Traffic
Fortunately, we have timed the tournament to coincide with school holidays. However, traffic in
the early morning will be a challenge. If you have a 07h30 tee time at KDMGC and are staying
out in Constantia/Tokai/ Bergvliet area suggest you leave at 06h00 and have a hearty breakfast
at the Club! Both Clubs will be open for breakfast from 06h30. Lunches will also be on offer at
both clubs from late morning into the afternoon.
The N1, N2, M3 and M5 towards the city will be congested from 06h30 to 08h30 and again in the
afternoon leaving the CBD from 15h30 onwards. Please allow plenty of time to ensure timeous
arrival at your destination.

Transport
We strongly recommend the use of metered taxis or Uber particularly if you have had or plan
to have a few drinks! The traffic police in C.T. are very vigilant!
Recommended metered Taxi services
Excite Taxis: 021 448 4444
Rikkis: 0861 745 547
Intercab: 021 447 7799

Standard Bank Pinelands; Branch Code 03 63 09; Cheque Acct No. 073 034 126
Car windscreen identity stickers
In your goody bag are 2 windscreen stickers displaying the Seniors Tournament logo. It is
essential that you place a sticker on your windscreen to ensure ease of access to both KDMGC
and RCGC as well as Kelvin Grove Club.

Ladies program
The Bo Kaap walk will be one of the highlights! The meeting spot is at 11h30 outside Rocksole in
Wale Street top of Wale Street above Buitengracht Street. You will be met by our 2 guides and
lady hosts. Please wear comfortable shoes, sun hats and walking attire. You will need some cash
for gratuities and possible purchases at the local spice shop! Lunch will be at a traditional Malay
restaurant and will include non-alcoholic beverages.
Parking in this area is a problem! So please use a metered taxi or Uber. The outing should
conclude by about 14h30.

Wednesday evening food and wine pairing

This function takes place at Bistro 1682 Steenberg at 19h30. The Bistro is situated on the
Steenberg Estate, Steenberg Rd, Tokai. It is a relaxed informal evening. Your meal, including a
gratuity, has been covered. Kindly settle your wine bill. Dress: smart casual

Gala Dinner at Kelvin Grove Club Newlands

Both the opening cocktail party and Gala Dinner take place at Kelvin. On arrival at the Gala
Dinner on Friday at 19h30, please proceed to a table identified with your Society name. Wine and
whiskey will be on the tables. A cash bar will be available. Dress: Seniors jacket and tie

Dietary requirements
Please advise any dietary requirements for the Gala Dinner to [email protected]

AGM of the Society

Please make every effort to attend the annual AGM at KDMGC at 18h30 on Tuesday. The
KDMGC pizza oven will be fired up!
Caddies/carts
Every effort has been made to ensure that your caddie and cart requirements have been met at
both golf clubs. Please do NOT invite a caddy from one club to take your bag at the other club.
This will cause substantial disruption in the caddy ranks.

Security
As always we have to be vigilant. Both Clubs are well managed and have loyal and reliable staff.
However, with so many people passing through the doors each day, valuables must be secured.
For example, do not leave valuables in the locker rooms while on the course.

Wishing you all a great week of golf, fun and camaraderie!
