In the header at the top of each page is the name of this manual followed by the name of
the chapter.

Page Numbering
Pages are numbered with the chapter number and page number, split by a dash. For
example, page one of chapter three is numbered 3-1.

Dates on Pages
At the bottom of each page is a date. This is the revision date of the chapter containing that
page. All pages in a chapter have the same date, even if only one page has changed since
the last revision.

Revision Record
The Revision Record preceding the main contents pages, gives a list of all changes to this
manual since first publication.

ASSEMBLIES

Identification of Assemblies
Identification of a complete assembly, including the 10-digit number assigned to it, is
included as the first line in the parts list. The entry for the complete assembly is not
identified by a reference letter.

Sub-assemblies with no Parts Breakdown

Some sub-assemblies must be ordered us units; individual parts composing these
assemblies are not available. Because of critical adjustments and assembly techniques
requiring special equipment, these sub-assemblies are prepared in the factory as units for
shipment to the field. Such units are identified in this manual as individual parts with no
further breakdown.

Multiple Views
Some complex assemblies are illustrated by different views on several adjacent pages.
Parts not referenced in one view of an assembly are referenced in another. Multiple views
are designated by a notation in the title; Cabinet Assembly (View 1 of 3), for example,
indicates that this page contains the first of three different views of the same assembly.

PARTS LISTS

Columns in Parts Lists

A parts list consists of three columns. The first column is the reference number identifying
the part in the illustration. The second column is the part number, and the third column is
the part name.

Indented Parts Lists

Indented parts lists identify sub-assemblies and their parts when they are included within a
larger assembly. Indented parts lists are recognized by one or more bullets (.) preceding
the part name, and the reference callouts being a combination of numeric and alphabetic
characters. This indicates that the indented item is part of the preceding assembly, but can
be ordered and replaced separately. This applies regardless of the number of indentations.
For example:

4A 000-0001575 .Gear
4B 000-0001575 .Hub Assy (E)
4B1 000-0001575 ..Hub
4B2 000-0001575 ..Bearing

The preceding example shows that the Gear Assembly (Ref. 4) comes with the Gear (Ref.
4A) and Hub Assembly (Ref. 4B) assembled. The Hub Assembly comes with the Hub
(Ref. 4B1) and Bearing (Ref. 4B2) assembled. Any one of the parts can be ordered
separately. The letter in parentheses at the end of an assembly name is used by the
Information Solutions Group in updating the manual.

References to Contents
Some assemblies shown on the illustration are called out with no 10-digit number listed
and a reference made to the contents. This indicates that there is a further breakdown of
the assembly on another page of the manual. Example:

Occasionally, the 10 digit number is given and also a reference is made to the contents. In
this case, the 10-digit number is given as a means of identifying a particular assembly
when there are other assemblies that are similar but not interchangeable. For example:

Reference Letter Beginning with Z

Generally, all the parts shown on a drawing are part of the assembly represented by the
part name and 10-digit number in the first line of the parts chart. Occasionally, it is
expedient to add miscellaneous parts to a drawing which are not part of the assembly.
These parts are identified by a alpha/numeric reference with the alpha character Z. For
example:
Z1 000-0000000 Screw
Z2 000-0000001 Nut

Recommended Spare Parts

Parts marked with * preceding the item number denote a recommended spare part.

Components Identified by Schematic Symbol

Where appropriate, electrical components may be called out by schematic designation,
rather than by reference number.

FEATURES
A feature is a collection of parts that are related but cannot be ordered as an assembly.
Where a feature is shown there is no 10-digit assembly number. Instead the parts list will
begin with reference number 1.

UPDATES
From time to time you will receive updates as the manual content is changed or added to.
