Rooting Lenovo phones continue with this Lenovo Vibe k5 phone. In this post, I am going share
you how to root Lenovo Vibe K5 by installing TWRP Custom Recovery and then flashing the
SuperSu zip file. Lenovo Vibe K5 is a low budget phone powered by Quad-core Snapdragon 415
CPU with 2GB RAM. Where Lenovo K5 Plus has the Snapdragon 616 Chipset. It has 13 MP
camera on its back and a 5MP camera on the front. As its Snapdragon means KingRoot will not
work here so we need to flash TWRP Custom Recovery the flash SuperSu to root Lenovo Vibe
K5 or Lenovo K5 Plus.

Before we are going to proceed to root Lenovo Vibe K5, you must know what is smartphone

How to Root Lenovo Vibe K5 or K5 Plus

Part 1: Enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking

1. Go to Settings About Build number and tap it 7 times to unlock Developer


options.
2. Enable USB debugging by Settings> Developer Option > USB Debugging
3. Enable OEM unlock by Settings> Developer Option> Unlock OEM

Part 2: Download and Install Driver Lenovo Vibe K5

Download this driver here. Unrar this! just install it. Now connect your phone via USB. Once the
configuration has completed, again restart your PC.

Part 3: Download Tools

Download Minimal ADB and Fastboot.zip ( TWRP included here and its twrp-k5-3.0.2-
r1_shreps.img )

Download SuperSU v2.46

Part 4: File preparation

1. Copy and paste the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip file to your Phones external memory
from your PC.
2. Unzip Minimal ADB and Fastboot.zip

Part 5: Root Lenovo Vibe K5

1. Open the Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder


2. Inside the folder you will get py_cmd.exe, just run as administrator
3. It will open a command prompt
4. Connect your phone to PC via USB, if you get any pop up on your phone, just allow it.
5. Now on the command prompt, type this command and hit enter.

adb devices

6. If everything ok, it will show list of devices attached like this

7. Now type bellow command and hit enter

adb reboot bootloader

8. Again type this and hit enter

fastboot devices

9. Now on your phone you will see something like Fastboot mode
10. Now type execute this command

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

11. Turn off your phone, then you need to press and hold both Volume UP+Power button.
12. A screen appears with various options, just choose recovery
13. You will be in TWRP Recovery mode
14. Now select Install Zip then Select Install Zip from /sdcard and browse the SuperSu Zip
file that you copy pasted earlier
15. Select the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip file, then choose Yes-Install SuperSu.zip to flash
it.

16. Once its done, just go back the select reboot the select reboot system to reboot your
phone.
17. Now your Lenovo Vibe k5 has been rooted.

To whether you Lenovo Vibe K5 has root access or not, just go to Google play store and install
Root Checker and run it.
