2.3 Features
The versatile 5804/5804 R/5810/5810 R centrifuge has a maximum capacity of 4 x 100 mL
(5804/5804 R centrifuge) or 4 x 500 mL (5810/5810 R centrifuge) and reaches max. 20,800 x g/
14,000 rpm. The versatility is reflected in the available rotor options. You can select between 8
(5804/5804 R centrifuge) or 13 (5810/5810 R centrifuge) different rotors to centrifuge the
following tubes for your various applications:
Micro test tubes (0.2 to 2.0 ml)
PCR strips
Microtainers
Spin columns
Cryotubes
Falcon tubes (15/50 mL)
Bottles (180 to 500 mL)
Various tubes (3 to 120 mL)
Microplates
PCR plates
Deepwell plates (max. height 29 mm)
Slides (with CombiSlide adapter)
Cell culture bottles
Handling the centrifuge is facilitated by:
Low access height of 28 cm for loading and unloading the rotors
Automatic rotor detection with rotational speed limit
Automatic rotor imbalance detection
Clear digital display
All centrifuges in these series have 35 program spaces for user-defined settings and 10 different
acceleration and braking ramps.
Adapter-specific manual radius adjustment guarantees maximum RCF accuracy.
The Centrifuge 5804 R/5810 R has an additional temperature control function for centrifugation
between -9C and 40C. Use the FastTemp function to start a temperature control run without
samples to adjust the rotor chamber incl. rotor, carriers and adapters quickly to the set target
temperature. Continuous cooling also maintains the temperature in the rotor chamber with the
centrifuge lid closed when the centrifuge is not in use.
The built-in condensation drain eliminates water accumulation and prevents corrosion.

3 Safety

3.1 Intended use

Operating manual
Also observe the information on intended use (Eppendorf Centrifuge Intended Use), which is
enclosed with some centrifuges.
The 5804/5804 R/5810/5810 R centrifuge is intended exclusively for indoor use and for
separating aqueous solutions and suspensions of various densities in approved test tubes.

Poor safety due to incorrect accessories and spare parts.

The use of accessories and spare parts other than those recommended by Eppendorf may
impair the safety, function and precision of the device. Eppendorf cannot be held liable or accept
CAUTION! any liability for damage resulting from the use of incorrect or non-recommended accessories and
spare parts or from the improper use of such equipment.
 Only use accessories and original spare parts recommended by Eppendorf.

3.2 User profile

This device may only be operated by trained specialist staff. They must have carefully read the
operating manual and be familiar with the function of the device.

3.3 Application limits

3.3.1 Declaration concerning the ATEX directive (94/9/EC)

Danger of explosion!
 Do not operate the device in areas where work is completed with explosive substances.
 Do not use this device to process any explosive or highly reactive substances.
DANGER!
 Do not use this device to process any substances which could create an explosive
atmosphere.

Due to its design and the environmental conditions on the inside of the device, the 5804/5804 R/
5810/5810 R centrifuge is not suitable for use in a potentially explosive atmosphere.
The device must therefore only be used in a safe environment, such as in the open environment
of a ventilated laboratory or an extractor hood. The use of substances which may contribute to a
potentially explosive atmosphere is not permitted. The final decision with regard to the risks
connected with the use of such substances is the responsibility of the user.

3.3.2 Maximum service life for accessories

Risk of injury from chemically or mechanically damaged accessories.

Even minor scratches and cracks can result in serious damage to the accessories.
 Protect all accessory parts from damage.
CAUTION!
 Inspect the accessories for damage before each use. Replace any damaged accessories.
 Do not use rotors, rotor lids, buckets, beakers or caps with signs of corrosion or mechanical
damage (e.g., deformations).
 Do not use accessories whose maximum service life has been exceeded.
 When inserting the buckets and rotors, ensure that they do not become scratched.

Risk of injury through chemical damage to the caps.

Transparent caps can lose strength if exposed to organic solvents (e.g., phenol, chloroform).
 Check the caps regularly for damage and cracks.
CAUTION!
 Immediately replace caps with cracks or milky discolorations.

For the other rotors and rotor lids of this centrifuge (see Rotors on p. 13), there is no limit for their
service life, as long as the following conditions are met: proper use, recommended maintenance
and undamaged condition. To ensure aerosol tightness, the lid of the FA-45-30-11 must be
replaced after a maximum of 10 autoclaving cycles (121C, 20 min) or after each autoclaving
cycle (142C, 2 h). For the rotors FA-45-6-30 and A-2-DWP-AT, the sealing in the lid groove must
be replaced after a maximum of 50 autoclaving cycles.
The date of manufacture is stamped on the rotors in the format 03/10 (= March 2010) or on the
inside of the plastic rotor lids and caps in the form of a clock . This is for information only and
does not have any reference to the service life.

3.4 Information on product liability

In the following cases, the designated protection may compromise the safety of the device.
Liability for material damage and personal injury is transferred to the operator:
The device is not used in accordance with the operating manual.
The device is used outside of its intended use.
The device is used with accessories or consumables (e.g., tubes and plates) which are not
recommended by Eppendorf.
The device is maintained or repaired by persons not authorized by Eppendorf.
The owner has made unauthorized modifications to the device.

3.5 Warnings for intended use

Read the operating manual first and observe the following general safety instructions before
using the 5804/5804 R/5810/5810 R centrifuge.

3.5.1 Personal injury or damage to the equipment

Electric shock due to damage to device or mains cable.

 Only switch on the device if the device and mains cable are undamaged.
 Only use devices that have been properly installed or repaired.
WARNING!  In case of danger, disconnect the device from the mains supply.

Lethal voltages inside the device.

 Ensure that the housing is always closed and undamaged so that no parts inside the device
can be contacted by accident.
WARNING!  Do not remove the housing of the device.
 Do not allow any liquids to penetrate the inside of the housing.
 Do not allow the device to be opened by anyone except service personnel who have been
specifically authorized by Eppendorf.

Risk from incorrect supply voltage

 Only connect the device to power supplies which correspond with the electrical requirements
on the nameplate.

Damage to health due to handling infectious liquids and pathogenic germs.
 Observe the national regulations for handling these substances, the biological security level

of your laboratory, the material safety data sheets and the manufacturer's application notes.
WARNING!  For the centrifugation of these substances, use suitable aerosol-tight closure systems.
 When working with pathogenic germs belonging to a higher risk group, more than one
aerosol-tight bioseal must be used.
 Wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
 Follow the instructions regarding hygiene, cleaning and decontamination.
 Comprehensive information on the regulations for handling germs and biological material in
risk group II or higher can be found in the "Laboratory Biosafety Manual" (source: World
Health Organization, Laboratory Biosafety Manual, in the valid version).

Centrifuge lid can crush. Keep hands clear.

 When opening or closing the device lid, do not reach between the lid and device or into the
latching mechanism of the lid.
CAUTION!  Always open the centrifuge lid completely to prevent it from falling.

Danger of crushing if the centrifuge lid falls down due to a defective gas spring.
A defective gas spring is an insufficient support for the centrifuge lid.
 Make sure that the centrifuge lid can be opened completely and that it will remain in this

 Regularly check the gas spring for its proper function.
 Have defective gas springs replaced immediately.
We recommend an exchange by a service technician every two years.

Damage to device by spilling liquids in the rotor or rotor chamber.

1. Switch the device off.
NOTICE! 2. Disconnect the device from the power supply.
3. Clean the device and the accessories carefully in accordance with the cleaning and
disinfection instructions in the operating manual.
4. If a different cleaning and disinfecting method is to be used, contact Eppendorf AG to ensure
that the intended method will not damage the device.

Damage to electronic components due to condensation.

After the device has been moved from a cool to a warmer environment, condensation may form
inside the device.
NOTICE!
 5804/5810Wait at least three hours before connecting it to the power supply.
 5804 R/5810 R Wait at least four hours before connecting it to the power supply.
 Only 5804/5810: Alternatively: let the device run for half an hour before transporting it.

Centrifuge 5804 R/5810 R: Compressor damage after improper transport.

 Only switch on the centrifuge 4 hours after installation.

3.5.2 Incorrect handling of the centrifuge

Damage from knocking against or moving the device during operation.

A rotor banging against the rotor chamber wall can cause considerable damage to the device and
rotor.
NOTICE!
 Do not move or knock against the device during operation.

3.5.3 Incorrect handling of the rotors

Risk of injury from improperly attached rotors and rotor lids.

 Centrifuge only with the rotor and rotor lid firmly tightened.
 If unusual noises occur when the centrifuge starts, the rotor or the rotor lid may not be

properly secured. Immediately press the start/stop key to stop centrifuging.

Risk of injury from unsymmetric loading of rotors.

 Load rotors symmetrically with identical tubes and/or buckets and plates.
 Only load adapters with suitable tubes and/or plates.
CAUTION!
 Always use tubes and/or plates of the same type (weight, material/density and volume).
 Ensure that tubes that are located opposite each other contain liquids with the same rate of
evaporation. Otherwise an imbalance can occur and the concentration may automatically
stop.
 Check for symmetric loading by balancing the adapters and tubes and/or plates used with
scales.

Risk of injury from overloaded rotor.

The 5804/5804 R/5810/5810 R centrifuge is designed for the centrifugation of material with a
max. density of 1.2 g/mL at maximum speed and filling volume and/or load.
CAUTION!
 Observe the information on each rotor relating to maximum load (adapter, tube and contents)
per rotor bore/per bucket and make sure it is not exceeded.

Damage to rotors from aggressive chemicals.

Rotors are high-quality components which withstand extreme stresses. This stability can be
impaired by aggressive chemicals.
NOTICE!
 Avoid the use of aggressive chemicals, including strong and weak alkalis, strong acids,
solutions with mercury, copper and other heavy metal ions, halogenated hydrocarbons,
concentrated saline solutions and phenol.
 If the rotor is contaminated with aggressive chemicals, clean it immediately using a neutral
cleaning agent and then rinse it thoroughly with water. This applies to the rotor bores in
particular.

If handled incorrectly, the rotor can fall over.

The buckets of swing-bucket rotors must not be used as handles.
 Before moving the rotor, remove the buckets.
NOTICE!
 Always pick up the rotor at the rotor cross, using both hands.

3.5.4 Extreme strain on the centrifuging tubes

Risk of injury from overloaded tubes.

Operating manual
 Note the loading limits specified by the tube manufacturer.
 Only use tubes which are approved by the manufacturer for the required rcf.
CAUTION!

Risk from damaged tubes.

Damaged tubes must not be used, as this could cause further damage to the device and the
accessories and loss of the samples.
NOTICE!
 Before use, carry out a visual check of all tubes for any damage.

Risk from open tube lids.

Open tube lids can break off during centrifugation and cause damage to the rotor as well as to
the centrifuge.
NOTICE!
 Carefully close all tube lids before centrifuging.

Hazard to plastic tubes from organic solvents.

When using organic solvents (e.g., phenol, chloroform) the strength of plastic tubes is reduced,
i.e., the tubes could get damaged.
NOTICE!
 Follow the manufacturer's information about the chemical resistance of tubes.

Sample tubes heat up.

In non-refrigerated centrifuges, the temperature in the rotor chamber, rotor and sample can rise
to above 40C dependent on the run time, g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm) and ambient temperature.
NOTICE!
 Note that this can reduce the centrifugation resistance of the sample tubes.
 Please note the temperature resistance of the samples.

3.5.5 Aerosol-tight centrifugation

Risk to health due to limited aerosol tightness with incorrect rotor/rotor lid combination.
Aerosol-tight centrifugation is guaranteed only if the rotors and rotor lids intended for this purpose
are used. The identification of fixed-angle rotors always starts with FA.
WARNING!
 Only use aerosol-tight rotors/beakers in combination with the associated rotor lids/caps.

Risk to health due to limited aerosol tightness in the event of incorrect.

Autoclaving, mechanical stresses and contamination by chemicals or other aggressive solvents
can impair the aerosol-tightness of the rotors and rotor lid.
WARNING!
 Regularly check that the seals of aerosol-tight rotor lids are undamaged.
 Only use aerosol-tight rotor lids with undamaged and clean gaskets.
 Thinly brush the threads of the rotor lid screw with pivot grease (order no. int.: 5810 350.050 /
North America: 022634330). Do not apply the pivot grease to the gaskets.
 Replace the lid of the FA-45-30-11 after a maximum of 10 autoclaving cycles (121C,
20 min). Replace the sealing in the lid groove of the rotors FA-45-6-30 and A-2-DWP-AT after
a maximum of 50 autoclaving cycles.
 Aerosol-tight rotors should never be stored with rotor lids screwed on.

4.1 Selecting the location

Damage to objects in the immediate vicinity of the device.

If damage occurs to the rotor or an imbalance occurs, it may cause the location of the device to
change slightly.
NOTICE!
 In accordance with the recommendations of EN 61010-2-020, leave a safety distance of 30
cm clear around the device during operation.

Damage from overheating.

 Do not place the device close to sources of heat (e.g., radiator, drying cabinet).
 Do not expose the device to direct sunlight.
NOTICE!
 Ensure free circulation of air by maintaining a distance of at least 30 cm on all sides of the
device from adjacent devices or the wall and keep the underside of the device clear.
 Make sure that the air slots in the device are always free of obstruction.

Radio interference.
This device is a category A product in accordance with EN 55011. There may be disturbance to
radio reception in residential areas.
NOTICE!
 Ensure that appropriate preventive measures are taken.
Select the location for the device according to the following criteria:
Suitable power connection as per the name plate (230 V/120 V/100 V).
Stable, horizontal and resonance-free lab bench. Weight of the device: 55 kg (5804) or 80 kg
(5804 R), 68 kg (5810), 99 kg (5810 R).
A well ventilated environment which is protected from direct sunlight to prevent the device
from heating up more.

4.2 Preparing installation

The weight of the device is 55 kg (5804) or 80 kg (5804 R), 68 kg (5810), 99 kg (5810 R).
Hint!
Transport the device without the rotor inserted.
Only transport the device in the original packaging.
The device must always be transported by 2 people.
Use a transport aid for longer distances (e.g., hand cart).
Retain the packaging material and the transport protection device for subsequent transport or
storage. See also the instructions relating to transport (see p. 54).

Perform the following steps in the sequence described.

1. Open the carton.
2. Remove the covering cardboard.
3. Remove the accessories.

4.3 Installing the instrument

Perform the following steps in the sequence described.

1. Lift the centrifuge by the underside in the vicinity of the device feet and place it directly on a
suitable lab bench.
2. Allow the device to warm up for at least 3 hours (5804/5810) or 4 hours (5804 R/5810 R) to
the ambient temperature to prevent damage to the electronic components from condensation
and damage to the compressor (only5804 R/5810 R).
3. Check that the mains voltage and frequency match the requirements on the device type plate.
Centrifuge 5804 R/5810 R with power supply voltage 120 V: See also the notes on the power
supply at the end of this chapter.
4. Connect the centrifuge to the mains and switch it on using the mains power switch on the
right side of the device.
The key open lights up.
The display is active.
5. Open the centrifuge lid using the open key.
6. Use the details included in the scope of delivery to check that the delivery is complete
(see Delivery package on p. 11).
7. Check all parts for any transport damage. Contact your dealer if any damage is found.
8. Only 5804 R/5810 R: Insert the condensation water tray at the front of the device into the
holder provided (see Fig. A)

5.1 Overview of operating controls

Before using the centrifuge for the first time, familiarize yourself with the operating controls and
the display.
The depiction of the control panel and the device display can be found on the front fold-out page
(see Fig. 2 and Fig. 3).

The display of the centrifugation parameters changes depending upon the condition of the
device:
Rotor stop: display of target values.
Centrifugation: display of actual values.
When you press the temp, time or speed keys during centrifugation, the respective target value
is displayed for 2.5 seconds.
Please also read the precise description of the individual functions (see p. 45).

5.2 Preparing for centrifugation

5.2.1 Switching on the centrifuge

1. Switch on the centrifuge using the mains power switch or the standby key.

2. Open the closed centrifuge lid by pressing the open key.
The parameter settings of the last run are displayed.

5.2.2 Inserting the rotor

Requirement
When attaching the rotor to or releasing it from the motor shaft, the temperature of the rotor and
motor shaft must be within the range of 10 30C.

Swing-bucket rotor: Before inserting or removing the rotor, remove the carriers and grip the rotor

1. Place the rotor vertically onto the motor shaft.

2. Insert the rotor key supplied into the rotor nut.

3. Turn rotor key clockwise until the rotor nut is firmly tightened.

5.2.3 Automatic rotor detection

The centrifuge has automatic rotor detection. It detects a newly inserted rotor during
centrifugation and displays its maximum g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm) for approx. 2 seconds. The set
g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm) is automatically limited to the maximum permissible value of the rotor, if
necessary.

If you start centrifuging immediately after a rotor change, then the centrifuge has not yet carried

out an automatic rotor detection. The speed set for the previous rotor may exceed the maximum
permitted speed for the new rotor. In this case the centrifuge stops after the automatic rotor
detection. In the display SPEED flashes. If you have started a program cycle, the program number
is set to zero.
You can now restart centrifugation with the automatically limited g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm) or
adjust it.

Fixed-angle rotors

To carry out an aerosol-tight centrifugation, an aerosol-tight rotor must be used in
combination with the corresponding rotor lid or cap.

To load the rotor, proceed as follows:

1. Check the maximum load (adapter, tube and contents) per rotor bore.
The information about this can be found on the rotor and in this operating manual (see Rotors
on p. 13).
2. Load rotors and adapters only with the tubes intended for them.
3. Insert tubes opposite each other in pairs into the rotor bores. For symmetrical loading, tubes
that are opposite each other must be of the same type and contain the same filling quantity.

In order to minimize weight differences between filled sample tubes, we recommend taring
with a scale. This will reduce wear on the drive and cut running noise.
4. Attach and tighten rotor lid.

Swing-bucket rotor

Requirement
A combination of rotor, carrier and adapter, approved by Eppendorf.
The carriers are sorted by weight category. Carriers that are located opposite each other must
belong to the same weight category. It is stamped onto the side of the groove, e.g. 68 (the last
2 digits in grams). When reordering - also plate carriers - make sure to specify the existing
weight category.
Matching and tested tubes and plates.
Do not remove the middle guiding elements of the modular adapters of the rectangular
buckets in order, e.g., to increase capacity through multi-level centrifugation.

Damage to adapters due to incorrect stacking.

 Stack the adapters in rectangular buckets in a closed row only from the bottom of the bucket.
Do not leave any gaps between the modules.
NOTICE!

Filling the plates too high can cause overflowing.

During the run the meniscuses in the tubes along the edges of the plates are at an angle. This is
due to the centrifugal forces and cannot be avoided.
NOTICE!
 Fill the wells of the plates to a maximum of 2/3 of the max. filling volume.

1. Check the carrier grooves for cleanliness and grease lightly with pivot grease (order
no. Int.: 5810 350.050 / North America: 022634330).
Dirty grooves and pivots prevent buckets from swinging out evenly.

All rotor positions must be loaded with carriers.
3. Check that all carriers are hanging properly and can swing freely.
4. If a plate type is used for the first time or for overlength tubes (> 100 mm) carry out a manual
loading and swing test.
5. Check the maximum load per carrier (adapter, tube or plate and contents) and the loading
height.

5.2.5 Closing the centrifuge lid

 When opening or closing the device lid, do not reach between the lid and device or into the
latching mechanism of the lid.
CAUTION!
 Always open the centrifuge lid completely to prevent it from falling.

1. Check correct attachment of rotor and rotor lid.

2. Push down the centrifuge lid until the lid latch engages and the lid is automatically closed.
The centrifuge will close automatically.
The open key lights blue. The display shows the symbol.

5.3 Cooling (only 5804 R/5810 R)

5.3.1 Temperature adjustment

 Select the temperature setting using the temp key.
 Set the temperature using the arrow keys between -9C and +40C.

5.3.4 FastTemp
This function can be used to start a temperature control run directly without samples with a rotor
and temperature-specific speed in order to quickly adjust the rotor chamber, including the rotor,
carriers and adapters, to the set nominal temperature.

Operating manual
Requirement
The centrifuge is switched on.
The rotor and rotor lid are properly attached.
The centrifuge lid is closed.
The temperature and g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm) are set for the subsequent centrifugation
(see Centrifuging on p. 42).
1. Press the fast temp key.
The display shows from left to right: actual temperature value, FT, g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm)
and -- (time).
The temperature control cycle ends automatically when the target temperature has been
reached. A periodic signal tone sounds.
2. Press the start/stop key to terminate the temperature control run early.
After the target temperature has been reached and the temperature control cycle is complete, the
centrifuge keeps the rotor chamber with the centrifuge lid closed at the set target temperature if
the temperature is below the ambient temperature. Irrespective of the target temperature,
however, this continuous cooling does not go below 4C to prevent the rotor chamber from
freezing.

The centrifuge stops the cycle automatically if the rotor or the buckets have reached the set

temperature. Therefore, there may be a delay between the display of the achieved set
temperature and the automatic end of the temperature control run.

When using aerosol-tight buckets, always carry out a FastTemp run at low temperatures without

a cap. There is a danger otherwise of the caps becoming fixed by suction due to a vacuum. Do
not pull on the bracket or hooks to loosen the cap. Adjust the temperature of the buckets to room
temperature so that the caps can be removed easily.

5.3.5 Continuous cooling

When the rotor is stopped the rotor chamber is kept at the target temperature when the following
prerequisites are met:
The centrifuge is switched on.
The centrifuge lid is closed.
The target temperature is below the ambient temperature.
The centrifuge is not in standby mode.
During continuous cooling the following applies:
The target and actual temperature are displayed alternately.
Irrespective of the target temperature, continuous cooling does not go below 4C to prevent
the rotor chamber from freezing and increased condensation in the device.
Because the rotor does not rotate during this process the temperature adjustment is slower.
To end continuous cooling, open the centrifuge lid or press the standby key.
If the centrifuge is not used for more than 8 hours, the continuous cooling is switched off
automatically (ECO shut-off). The device then switches to standby mode. This protects against
ice formation in the rotor chamber and increased condensation in the device. The display shows
Standby off and the measured temperature in the rotor chamber. With FastTemp you can quickly
reach the desired temperature again (see p. 41).
You can also change from automatically switching off continuous cooling after 8 hours (ECO
shut-off) to unlimited continuous cooling.

5.4 Centrifuging

Risk from incorrectly loaded rotors and damaged/overloaded tubes!

 Before commencing centrifugation, follow the safety instructions relating to risks from
asymmetrically loaded and/or overloaded rotors and from overloaded, damaged and/or open
CAUTION! tubes (see Warnings for intended use on p. 30).

 Centrifuge only with the rotor and rotor lid firmly tightened.
 If unusual noises occur when the centrifuge starts, the rotor or the rotor lid may not be

Each of the centrifuging variants described here must be preceded by the preparation described
above (see Preparing for centrifugation on p. 37).
5.4.1 Centrifuging with preset time
Perform the following steps in the sequence described.
1. Speed (rpm) setting: press once. g-force (rcf) setting: press repeatedly until the symbol
also appears in the display.
The displayed g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm) flashes and can be set with the arrow keys.
For the g-force (rcf) setting also check the set radius (see Rotors on p. 13), (see Setting the
radius on p. 45).
2. Use the arrow keys to set the g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm).
The new target value appears in the display.
3. Select the runtime setting and set it with the arrow keys.

4. Only 5804 R/5810 R: Select the temperature setting and set it with the arrow keys.

5. Start centrifugation.
In the display flashes while the rotor is running.
The remaining runtime is displayed in minutes. The last minute is counted down in seconds.
Only 5804 R/5810 R: The current temperature is displayed.
The current g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm) of the rotor is displayed.
You can display all target values for 2.5 s by pressing a parameter key (Temp, Speed, Time).
You can terminate centrifugation early by pressing the start/stop key.
After completion of the set time, the centrifuge stops automatically.
During braking the elapsed centrifugation time is displayed flashing.
6. Open the centrifuge lid as soon as the key lights.

5.4.2 Centrifuging in continuous operation

Perform the following steps in the sequence described.
1. Set the g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm) and possibly the temperature as previously described
(see p. 42).
2. Select the runtime setting.

3. Set continuous operation below 1 min or above 99 min.

In the display indicates continuous operation.
4. Start centrifugation.
In the display flashes while the rotor is running.
The timing is counted upwards. If the centrifuge runs for more than 99 min, 99. in appears in
the display.
Only 5804 R/5810 R: The current temperature is displayed.
The current g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm) of the rotor is displayed.
5. End centrifugation after the desired time.
During braking the elapsed centrifugation time is displayed flashing.
6. Open the centrifuge lid as soon as the key lights.

7. Remove the centrifugate.

5.4.3 Short spin centrifugation
You can carry out a short spin with the currently set or with the maximum g-force (rcf)/
speed (rpm) of the rotor used.

Setting the speed option

 Press and hold down the key with the centrifuge lid open.
One of the following options appears in the display:
rpm max: the rotor accelerates up to its maximum g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm)
(see Automatic rotor detection on p. 37).
200 - rpm: the rotor only accelerates up to its set g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm).
 Press and hold down the key for more than 3 s with the centrifuge lid open to switch
between the rpm max and 200 - rpm options.
The selected option appears for 2 s in the display and is retained.
Starting the short spin run

1. When 200 - rpm is set, set the g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm) for the short spin run
(see p. 42).
2. Only 5804 R/5810 R: set the temperature (see p. 42).
3. Keep the key pressed to start the short spin run.
In the display SH appears while the rotor is running.
The time is counted upwards in seconds.
4. Release to end the short spin run.

During the braking process, centrifuging can be restarted up to two more times by pressing the

6.1 Setting the radius

Operating manual
When you control the rotational speed via the g-force (rcf, RCF), and not via the speed (rpm), the
internal conversion of speed to g-force takes place by default with the largest radius of the used
rotor (see Rotors on p. 13). You can adapt this radius to an applied adapter:
1. Press repeatedly until the symbol also appears in the display.
The current radius flashes.
2. Set the new radius.
3. Wait for 3 seconds (if the rotor is stopped: 10 seconds).
The changed g-force appears.
6.2 Setting the acceleration and braking times
You can set the acceleration and braking time in the levels 0 to 9 (see Tab. on p. 57). Level 9 is
preset (shortest acceleration and braking time).
1. Press twice until the symbol for acceleration level (accel) appears.

2. Select acceleration level 0 to 9.

3. Press once until the symbol for braking level (brake) appears.

4. Select braking level 0 to 9.

Braking level (brake) 0 corresponds to free deceleration.
The device only shows the and symbols continually when levels 0 to 8 have been set.
6.3 At set rpm
The centrifuge can count down the set time either immediately from the start of centrifugation or
only once 95% of the specified g-force (rcf)/speed (rpm) has been reached (At set rpm). The
respective setting is indicated by the flashing triangle in the symbol above the display:
Preset time: the set time is counted down immediately after the start of
centrifugation.

At set rpm: the set time is counted down once 95% of the specified g-force (rcf)/
speed (rpm) has been reached.

Requirement
The centrifuge lid is open.
 Hold down this key for at least 4 s to switch between the two settings.

When this key is pressed, both triangles of the symbol will flash alternately.
6.4 Saving the program
You can save the current centrifugation parameters and functions (At set rpm, acceleration and
braking times and radius) under up to 35 program numbers.
Requirement
Rotor stop.
1. Check the parameters and functions to be saved.
2. Press key twice.
The first free program number appears with P... in the display.
3. Select the program number (1...9,A...Z).

exit the programming mode.

If you change the centrifugation parameters during a run with a stored program, the centrifuge

You can also exit the stored program by loading program 0.

6.6 Deleting the program

Requirement
Rotor stop.
The centrifuge lid is open.
1. Press once.
The program number flashes.
2. Select the program number.

3. Within 10 seconds, keep key pressed for 2 seconds

until cleared appears in the display.
The selected program is deleted. You can save new centrifugation parameters and functions
under this program number.
6.7 Special functions

6.7.1 Display operating hours

Requirement
Rotor stop.

 Press both keys simultaneously.

The previous total run time of the centrifuge (in hours) appears in the display.

6.7.2 Switching on/off the warning signal

 Press both keys simultaneously to change the setting.

Alarm on or Alarm off appears after 2 seconds in the display.

6.7.4 Controlling the centrifuge via the serial interface (optional)
Optionally, you can also control all centrifuge functions via a serial interface (RS 232 c). For this a
retrofit must be carried out by Eppendorf Service. Only devices verified according to IEC 950
must be connected to the serial interface.

7 Maintenance

7.1 Maintenance

Danger of crushing if the centrifuge lid falls down due to a defective gas spring.
A defective gas spring is an insufficient support for the centrifuge lid.
 Make sure that the centrifuge lid can be opened completely and that it will remain in this

 Regularly check the gas spring for its proper function.
 Have defective gas springs replaced immediately.
We recommend an exchange by a service technician every two years.

We recommend that the centrifuge with the associated rotors be checked at the latest every 12
months by Technical Service during maintenance. Observe the relevant national regulations.

7.2 Prepare cleaning / disinfection

 Clean all accessible surfaces of the device and the accessories at least weekly and when
contaminated.
 Clean the rotor regularly. This way the rotor is protected and the durability is prolonged.
 Furthermore, observe the notes on decontamination (see Decontamination before shipment
on p. 50) when the device is sent to the authorized Technical Service for repairs.
The procedure described in the following chapter applies to the cleaning as well as to the
disinfection or decontamination. The table below describes the steps required on top of this:

 Switch off the device and disconnect it from the power supply before starting cleaning or

weak bases, strong acids, acetone, formaldehyde, halogenated hydrocarbons or phenol.

mild cleaning agent.

Corrosion due to aggressive cleaning agents and disinfectants.

Autoclaving
Hint!
All rotors, rotor lids, carriers, adapters and buckets apart from rotor cross A-4-81 can be
autoclaved (121C, 20 min).
Replace the lid of the FA-45-30-11 after a maximum of 10 autoclaving cycles (121C, 20 min).
Replace the sealing in the lid groove of the rotors FA-45-6-30 and A-2-DWP-AT after a maximum
of 50 autoclaving cycles.
The aerosol-tight rotor FA-45-30-11 can be autoclaved at 142C for 2 hours to destroy prions.
Note that in this case the rotor lid must be replaced after each autoclaving.

Aerosol-tightness
Hint!
Check that the seals are intact before use.
Replace the rotor lids of aerosol-tight rotors when the sealing rings on the lid screw and in the lid
groove are worn. The sealing rings require regular care to protect the rotors.
Aerosol-tight rotors should never be stored with lids screwed on!
In order to prevent damage, lightly lubricate the lid thread of the aerosol-tight rotors with pivot
grease (order no. Int.: 5810 350.050/North America: 022634330).

Swing-bucket rotor
Hint!
Before cleaning the rotor, remove old pivot grease from grooves and pivots.
Make sure that the grooves and pivots are clean. Dirty grooves and pivots prevent carriers
from swinging out evenly.
After cleaning, lubricate the pivots of the rotor and the grooves of the buckets with pivot
grease (order no. Int.: 5810 350.050/North America: 022634330) so that the carriers can
move freely in a swinging manner.

7.3.1 Cleaning / disinfecting the device
1. Switch off the device at the mains power switch while the lid is open, and disconnect the
power plug from the power supply.
2. Unscrew the rotor nut by turning it counterclockwise with the rotor key.

4. Use the agents specified above (see p. 47) to clean and disinfect the device and the rotor
chamber.
5. Wipe all accessible surfaces of the device and accessories including the mains cable with a
damp cloth.
6. Thoroughly clean the rubber seal of the rotor chamber with water.
7. Rub the dry rubber seal with glycerine or talcum powder to prevent it from becoming brittle.
Other components of the device, such as the lid latch, lid springs, motor shaft and rotor cone,
must not be lubricated.
8. Clean the motor shaft with a soft, dry and lint-free cloth.
9. Check device and accessories for corrosion and damage.

7.3.2 Cleaning / disinfecting the rotor

After every 200 runs, the centrifuge displays clean rotor three times to remind you to regularly

clean the rotor.

1. Clean rotors, rotor lid, carriers, adapters and buckets with the agents mentioned above and
disinfect them (see p. 47).
2. Use a bottle brush to clean and disinfect the rotor bores.
3. Rinse rotors, rotor lid, carriers, adapters and buckets thoroughly with water. Pay particular
attention to the rotor bores of the fixed-angle rotors. Do not submerge the rotor as otherwise
liquid may enter the hollow spaces.
4. Place rotors and accessories onto a cloth to dry. Place fixed-angle rotors with the rotor bores
facing downwards to allow the bores to dry as well.
5. Clean the rotor cone with a soft, dry and lint-free cloth and inspect for damage. Do not
lubricate the rotor cone.
6. Place the dry rotor onto the motor shaft.
7. Tighten the rotor nut firmly by turning it clockwise with the rotor key.
8. Load the fixed-angle rotor with the cleaned adapters or the swing-bucket rotor with the
cleaned buckets and adapters, if necessary.

7.4 Additional service instructions for Centrifuge 5804 R/5810 R

 Empty and clean the condensation water tray regularly and especially after liquid spillage in
the rotor chamber. Pull out the tray for condensation water at the front right under the device.
 Also regularly clean the condensate drainage channels, e.g., using a bottle brush.
 Clear the rotor chamber regularly of ice formations by thawing, either by leaving the centrifuge
lid open or carrying out a brief temperature control run at approx. 30C.
 Leave the centrifuge lid open when not in use for a long period.
This allows residual moisture to escape.
The gas pressure spring is relieved.
 Wipe up condensate in the rotor chamber. To do so, use a soft absorbent cloth.
 Remove dust deposits from the ventilation slits of the centrifuge using a brush or swab at the
latest every six months. First switch off the device and remove the power plug.

7.5 Glass breakage
When using glass tubes there is a risk of glass breakage in the rotor chamber. The resulting glass
splinters are swirled around during centrifugation in the rotor chamber and have a sand blasting
effect on the rotor and accessories. Fine glass particles can become lodged in the rubber parts

(e.g., in the motor sleeve, in the sealing of the rotor chamber and in the rubber mats of adapters).

Glass breakage in the rotor chamber

Centrifugation at a too high g force may cause the glass tubes to break in the rotor chamber.
Glass breakage causes damage to the rotor and accessories and can contaminate the samples.
NOTICE!
 Please note the manufacturer's information on the recommended centrifugation parameters
(load and speed).

Effects of glass breakage in the rotor chamber:

Fine black metal abrasion in the rotor chamber (in the case of metal rotor chambers)
Scratching of rotor chamber and accessory surfaces
Reduction of the rotor chamber's chemical resistance
Contamination of samples
Wear on rubber parts
How to proceed when breakage of glass occurs
1. Remove all splinters and glass powder from the rotor chamber and accessories.
2. Thoroughly clean both rotor and rotor chamber. Especially thoroughly clean the bores of the
fixed-angle rotors.

3. If required, replace rubber mats and adapters to prevent any further damage.
4. Regularly check the rotor bores for deposits and damage.

8.1 Resetting the excess current switch

The 230 V and 120 V devices have built-in thermal excess-current switches which function as
(all-pole) fuses. When the overload protection is actuated, these switch the power switch to OFF,
but do not switch it on again automatically.
To switch on the excess current switch again, proceed as follows:
1. Switch off the centrifuge using the power switch.
2. Wait for at least 20 seconds and switch on the centrifuge again.
The excess current switch will be automatically reactivated and the centrifuge is ready for
operation.

8.2 General errors

manual de instrucciones.
En la versin inglesa y alemana tambin se encuentra una visin general de los rotores, las

3.1 Uso de acuerdo con lo prescrito

Tenga en cuenta igualmente la informacin para el uso de acuerdo con lo prescrito (Centrfuga
Eppendorf Uso previsto), que acompaa a algunas centrfugas.
La Centrifuge 5804/5804 R/5810/5810 R est destinada exclusivamente para su uso en
interiores y sirve para la separacin de soluciones acuosas y suspensiones de diferente
densidad en tubos de muestras autorizados.

Falta de seguridad por piezas de repuesto y accesorios incorrectos.

Los accesorios y piezas de repuesto que no han sido recomendados por Eppendorf afectan a la
seguridad, funcin y precisin del aparato. Por daos producidos por accesorios y piezas de
ATENCIN! repuesto no recomendados por Eppendorf o por un uso incorrecto, Eppendorf queda eximido de
cualquier responsabilidad o garanta.
 Utilice exclusivamente accesorios y piezas de repuesto recomendados por Eppendorf.

3.3 Lmites de aplicacin

3.3.1 Aclaracin de la directriz ATEX (94/9/EG)

Peligro de explosin!
 No utilice este aparato en lugares, en donde se trabaje con sustancias explosivas.
 No procese sustancias explosivas o de reaccin violenta con este aparato.
PELIGRO!
 No utilice este aparato con ninguna sustancia que pueda originar una atmsfera explosiva.
La Centrifuge 5804/5804 R/5810/5810 R no est indicada para su aplicacin en una atmsfera
potencialmente explosiva debido a su construccin y a las condiciones en el interior del aparato.
Por ese motivo el aparato solo puede utilizarse en un ambiente o entorno seguro, es decir en el
entorno abierto de un laboratorio ventilado o una campana extractora. No est permitido el uso
de sustancias que puedan originar una atmsfera potencialmente explosiva. La decisin
definitiva respecto a los riesgos en combinacin con el uso de tales sustancias est dentro de las
atribuciones del usuario.

3.3.2 Mxima vida til de los accesorios

Peligro de lesin a causa de accesorios daados qumica o mecnicamente.

Tanto araazos como grietas pequeas pueden provocar graves daos en los materiales
internos.
ATENCIN!
 Proteja todas las piezas contra los deterioros mecnicos.
 Controle peridicamente los accesorios.
 No utilice rotores, tapas de rotores, dispositivos de suspensin, frascos o tapones con
huellas de corrosin o daos mecnicos (p.ej. torceduras).
 No utilice ningn accesorio, cuya mxima vida til haya caducado.
 Preste atencin de no causar araazos al insertar los dispositivos de suspensin y los
rotores.

Las tapas transparentes pueden perder su estabilidad por la accin de diluyentes orgnicos

de la conservacin recomendada y estado no deteriorado. Para garantizar la estanqueidad al
aerosol, se debe cambiar la tapa del FA-45-30-11 despus de mximo diez ciclos de autoclave
(121C, 20 min) y despus de cada ciclo de autoclave (142C, 2 h). En los rotores FA-45-6-30 y
A-2-DWP-AT, hay que cambiar la obturacin en la ranura de la tapa despus de mx. 50 ciclos
de autoclave.
La fecha de fabricacin est grabada en los rotores como 03/10 (= marzo 2010) o en la parte
interior de la tapa del rotor y tapones como un reloj . Esto es solo a nivel informativo y no
representa ninguna referencia para la duracin de la vida til.

3.4 Indicaciones respecto a la responsabilidad del producto

En los siguientes casos pueden verse mermadas las garantas previstas para el aparato.
Entonces, la responsabilidad del funcionamiento del aparato recae en el operador:
El aparato no es utilizado de acuerdo con lo especificado en el manual de instrucciones.
El aparato es utilizado en otros campos de aplicacin diferentes a los descritos en los
captulos anteriores.
El aparato es utilizado con accesorios o consumibles (p.ej. recipientes y placas) que no han
sido recomendados por Eppendorf.
El aparato es mantenido o reparado por personas que no han sido autorizadas por
Eppendorf AG.
El usuario efecta modificaciones en el aparato sin autorizacin.

3.5 Peligros en caso de no seguir las indicaciones

Lea en primer lugar el manual de instrucciones y observe las siguientes indicaciones generales
de seguridad antes de utilizar la Centrifuge 5804/5804 R/5810/5810 R.

3.5.1 Daos personales o del aparato

Descarga elctrica por daos en el aparato o cable de alimentacin.

 Solo debe encender el aparato cuando el aparato y el cable de alimentacin no estn
daados.
ADVERTENCIA!
 Utilice nicamente aparatos que hayan sido instalados o reparados correctamente.
 Desconecte el aparato de la red elctrica en caso de peligro.

Descargas de tensin mortales en el interior del aparato.

 Asegrese de que la carcasa est cerrada y sin daos, de manera que no puedan tocarse
piezas del interior del dispositivo por descuido.
ADVERTENCIA!
 No retire la carcasa del aparato.
 No permita que ningn lquido llegue al interior de la carcasa.
 Solo permita que personal tcnico autorizado por Eppendorf abra el aparato.

Peligro debido a una alimentacin de tensin incorrecta.

 Conecte el aparato nicamente a fuentes de tensin que cumplan los requisitos elctricos
indicados en la placa de caractersticas.
ADVERTENCIA!

El manejo de lquidos infecciosos y grmenes patgenos puede ser perjudicial para la

salud.
ES  Observe las disposiciones nacionales sobre el manejo de estas sustancias, el nivel de
ADVERTENCIA! seguridad biolgica de su laboratorio as como las fichas de datos de seguridad e
indicaciones de uso de los fabricantes.
 Utilice sistemas de cierre apropiados hermticos al aerosol en el centrifugado de estas
sustancias.

 Al trabajar con grmenes patgenos de un grupo de alto riesgo, debe disponer de algo ms
que tan solo una impermeabilizacin biolgica hermtica al aerosol.
 Lleve puesto el equipo de proteccin personal (PSA).
 Observe las indicaciones sobre higiene, limpieza y descontaminacin.
 Consulte en el "Laboratory Biosafety Manual" (fuente: World Health Organisation, Laboratory
Biosafety Manual, en la versin actualmente vigente) las amplias disposiciones sobre la
manipulacin de grmenes o material biolgico del grupo de riesgo II o superior.

Peligro de aplastarse los dedos con la tapa de la centrfuga.

 Al abrir y cerrar la tapa del aparato, no ponga la mano entre la tapa y el aparato o en el
mecanismo de cierre de la tapa.
ADVERTENCIA!
 Siempre abra la tapa de la centrfuga por completo para que sta no pueda cerrarse sola de
golpe.

Las extremidades pueden resultar aplastadas por la cada de una tapa de centrfuga que
tenga los muelles de gas defectuosos.
Un muelle de gas defectuoso no puede sujetar la tapa de la centrfuga correctamente.
ADVERTENCIA!
 Cercirese de que la tapa de la centrfuga se pueda abrir completamente y se quede en esa
posicin.
 Compruebe con regularidad el correcto funcionamiento del muelle de gas.
 Deje que muelles de gas defectuosos sean sustituidos de inmediato.
Recomendamos que cada 2 aos un tcnico del servicio posventa se encargue de reemplazar
los muelles de gas.

Deterioros del aparato a causa de lquidos derramados en el rotor o en la cmara del rotor.
1. Apague el aparato.
AVISO! 2. Desconecte el aparato de la alimentacin elctrica.
3. Lleve a cabo una limpieza cuidadosa del aparato y sus accesorios segn las indicaciones de
limpieza y desinfeccin del manual de instrucciones.
4. Si debe utilizarse otro mtodo de limpieza o desinfeccin, consulte a Eppendorf AG para
asegurarse de que el mtodo pretendido no daa el aparato.

Daos en los componentes electrnicos debidos a la formacin de condensado.

Despus de transportar el aparato de un ambiente fro a un ambiente caliente se puede producir
lquido de condensacin.
AVISO!
 Espere por lo menos tres horas (5804/5810) hasta que conecte el aparato a la alimentacin
elctrica.
 Espere por lo menos cuatro horas (5804 R/5810 R) hasta que conecte el aparato a la
alimentacin elctrica.
 Solo 5804/5810: alternativa deje calentar el aparato durante media hora justo antes del
transporte.

Centrifuge 5804 R/5810 R: dao de compresor tras un transporte inadecuado.

 No conecte la centrfuga hasta 4 horas despus de haberla colocado en su respectivo sitio.

3.5.2 Manipulacin errnea de la centrfuga

Daos por golpes o movimientos del aparato en funcionamiento.

Un rotor que golpea contra la pared de la cmara produce daos considerables en el aparato y
en el rotor.

 No mueva o golpee el aparato mientras ste est en funcionamiento.

3.5.3 Manipulacin errnea de los rotores

Peligro de lesin por rotores y tapa del rotor incorrectamente fijados.

 Centrifugue solo cuando el rotor y la tapa del rotor estn apretados fijamente.
 Si al arrancar la centrfuga se producen ruidos no habituales, puede que el rotor o la tapa del

start/stop.

Peligro de lesin por carga asimtrica de un rotor.

 Equipe los rotores simtricamente con tubos o placas y dispositivos de suspensin idnticos.
 Cargue los adaptadores solo con los tubos o placas adecuados.
ATENCIN!
 Utilice siempre tubos o placas del mismo tipo (peso, material/densidad y volumen).
 Cercirese que en tubos en posiciones opuestas se encuentren lquidos que se evaporen
con la misma velocidad. De lo contrario se podra producir un desequilibrio y provocar el
apagado automtico del proceso de concentracin.
 Compruebe la carga simtrica tarando los adaptadores y tubos o placas utilizados con una
bscula.

Peligro de lesin por sobrecarga del rotor.

La Centrifuge 5804/5804 R/5810/5810 R est diseada para el centrifugado de sustancias con
una densidad mxima de 1,2 g/mL si funciona a mxima velocidad y a mximo volumen de

 Observe las indicaciones en cada rotor respecto a la carga mxima (adaptador, tubo y
contenido) por cada orificio del rotor y por cada dispositivo de suspensin y no la sobrepase.

Deterioro de los rotores a causa de productos qumicos agresivos.

Los rotores son componentes de alta calidad que resisten cargas extremas. Esta estabilidad
puede verse perjudicada por productos qumicos agresivos.
AVISO!
 Evite el uso de productos qumicos agresivos; a esta clase de productos pertenecen, entre
otros, lcalis fuertes y dbiles, cidos fuertes, soluciones con iones de mercurio, cobre u
otros metales pesados, hidrocarburos halogenados, soluciones salinas concentradas y fenol.
 En caso de contaminacin por medio de sustancias qumicas agresivas, debe limpiar el rotor
lo ms pronto posible con un producto de limpieza neutral y enjuagarlo con abundante agua.
Esto vale especialmente para los orificios del rotor.

El rotor se puede caer en caso de una manipulacin errnea.

Los dispositivos de suspensin de los rotores basculantes no se deben utilizar como asa.
 Retire los dispositivos de suspensin antes de mover el rotor.
AVISO!
 Agarre el rotor siempre con las dos manos por la cruceta del rotor.

3.5.4 Alta exigencia de los tubos de centrifugado

Peligro de lesin por tubos sobrecargados.

 Observe los valores lmite especificados por el fabricante de los tubos sobre la capacidad de
carga de los mismos.
ATENCIN!
 Solo utilice recipientes autorizados por el fabricante para la FCR (en g) prevista.

Peligro por tubos daados.

No deben utilizarse tubos daados. La consecuencia pueden ser daos adicionales en el
aparato y en los accesorios as como la prdida de muestras.
AVISO!
 Inspeccione visualmente todos los tubos respecto a posibles daos antes de su uso.

Peligro por tapas de tubos abiertas.

Las tapas de tubos abiertas pueden romperse en el centrifugado y daar tanto el rotor como la
centrfuga.
AVISO!
 Cierre cuidadosamente todas las tapas de tubos antes del centrifugado.

Daos de los tubos de plstico por disolventes orgnicos.

En caso de utilizacin de disolventes orgnicos (p.ej. fenol, cloroformo) se reduce la resistencia
de los tubos de plstico, de forma que se pueden daar los tubos.
AVISO!
 Observe las indicaciones del fabricante sobre la resistencia qumica de los tubos.

Los tubos de muestras se calientan.

En las centrfugas no refrigeradas, dependiendo de la duracin del ciclo, la fuerza de la
gravedad (FCR)/velocidad (rpm) y la temperatura ambiente, la temperatura en la cmara del
AVISO! rotor, rotor y muestra puede aumentar por encima de 40 C.
 Tenga en cuenta que en este caso la resistencia al centrifugado de los tubos de muestras se
reduce.
 Observe la resistencia a la temperatura de las muestras.

3.5.5 Centrifugado hermtico al aerosol

Riesgos para la salud debido a una hermeticidad al aerosol limitada por una combinacin
incorrecta de rotor/tapa del rotor.
El centrifugado hermtico al aerosol solo est garantizado en caso de utilizar los rotores y tapas
ADVERTENCIA! de rotor previstos para ello. Las denominaciones de los rotores de ngulo fijo siempre empiezan
con FA.
 Utilice rotores/frascos hermticos al aerosol exclusivamente en combinacin con las tapas de
rotor y tapas correspondientes.

Riesgos para la salud debido a una hermeticidad al aerosol limitada por una aplicacin
incorrecta.
Las esterilizaciones en autoclave, cargas mecnicas y contaminaciones por sustancias qumicas
ADVERTENCIA! agresivas u otras soluciones agresivas pueden perjudicar la hermeticidad al aerosol de los
rotores y tapas de rotor.
 Controle regularmente la integridad de las juntas de la tapa del rotor hermticas al aerosol. ES
 Utilice tapas del rotor hermticas al aerosol exclusivamente con juntas intactas y limpias.
 Unte ligeramente la rosca del tornillo de la tapa del rotor despus de cada esterilizacin en
autoclave (121 C, 20 min.) con una fina capa de grasa para pernos (n. de pedido int.: 5810
350.050 / Norteamrica: 022634330). No unte las juntas con grasa para pernos.

 Sustituya la tapa del FA-45-30-11 despus de diez ciclos de autoclave (121C, 20 min) como
mximo. Sustituya la obturacin en la ranura de la tapa de los rotores FA-45-6-30 y
A-2-DWP-AT despus de 50 ciclos de autoclave como mximo.
 Nunca almacene rotores hermticos al aerosol con la tapa del rotor cerrada.

4.1 Seleccin de la ubicacin

En caso de error se pueden daar objetos que se encuentren junto al aparato.

 Respete las recomendaciones de la norma EN 61010-2-020, dejando durante el
funcionamiento un espacio de seguridad de 30 cm alrededor del aparato.
AVISO!

Daos por sobrecalentamiento

 No coloque el aparato cerca de fuentes de calor (p.ej. calefaccin, armarios de secado).
 No exponga el aparato a la radiacin solar directa.
AVISO!
 Garantice la libre circulacin del aire manteniendo un espacio de por lo menos 30 cm entre el
aparato y los aparatos a su alrededor o con respecto a la pared, y dejando libre la parte
inferior del aparato.

 Mantenga siempre libres las ranuras de ventilacin.

Problemas de transmisin.
Este aparato es un producto de primera clase conforme a la normativa EN 55011. En zonas

residenciales pueden producirse problemas de radiorrecepcin.

 Tome las medidas de proteccin correspondientes.
Determine la ubicacin del aparato segn los siguientes criterios:
Alimentacin elctrica apropiada conforme a la placa de caractersticas (230 V/120 V/100 V).
Mesa de laboratorio estable, horizontal y libre de resonancias. Peso del aparato: 55 kg
(5804) u 80 kg (5804 R), 68 kg (5810), 99 kg (5810 R).
Entorno bien ventilado y protegido de la radiacin solar directa para evitar un calentamiento
adicional.

4.2 Preparacin de la instalacin

El peso del aparato es de 55 kg (5804) u 80 kg (5804 R), 68 kg (5810), 99 kg (5810 R).

Nota!
Transporte el aparato sin el rotor.
Transporte el aparato exclusivamente en el embalaje original.
Siempre transporte el aparato con 2 personas.
Utilice una ayuda de transporte (p.ej. una carretilla) en el caso de tramos ms largos.
Guarde el material de embalaje y los bloqueadores de transporte para un transporte
posterior. Observe tambin para ello las indicaciones para el transporte (ver en pg. 182).

Ejecute los siguientes pasos en el orden indicado:

1. Abra el cartn de embalaje.
2. Retire la tapa de recubrimiento.
3. Extraiga los accesorios.

4.3 Instalacin del aparato

Peligro debido a una alimentacin de tensin incorrecta.

 Conecte el aparato nicamente a fuentes de tensin que cumplan los requisitos elctricos
indicados en la placa de caractersticas.
ADVERTENCIA!
 Utilice exclusivamente enchufes con conduccin de proteccin y un cable de red apropiado.

 No conecte la centrfuga hasta 4 horas despus de haberla colocado en su respectivo sitio.

Ejecute los siguientes pasos en el orden indicado:

1. Eleve la centrfuga en la parte inferior, cerca de las patas de goma, y colquela directamente
sobre una mesa de laboratorio apropiada.
2. Deje que el aparato se caliente durante por lo menos 3 (5804/5810) o 4 horas (5804 R/
5810 R) hasta que tenga la temperatura ambiente para evitar daos en componentes
electrnicos a causa de formacin de condensado y daos en el compresor (solo 5804 R/
5810 R).
3. Verifique la conformidad de la tensin y frecuencia de la red con los requisitos especificados
en la placa de caractersticas del aparato.
Centrifuge 5804 R/5810 R con tensin de red de 120 V: observe las indicaciones sobre
suministro de corriente al final del captulo. ES
4. Conecte la centrfuga a la red y encindala con el interruptor de alimentacin que se
encuentra en el lado derecho del aparato.
El botn open se ilumina.
El indicador est activo.

5. Abra la tapa de la centrfuga con el botn open.
6. Compruebe todas las piezas respecto a posibles daos de transporte. Pngase en contacto
con su proveedor en caso de que exista algn dao.

Si pulsa los botones temp, time o speed durante el centrifugado, se visualiza el valor terico
correspondiente durante 2,5 s.

5.2 Preparacin del centrifugado

5.2.1 Conexin de la centrfuga
1. Conmute la centrfuga con el interruptor de red o el botn standby .
2. Abra la tapa de la centrfuga pulsando el botn open.
Los ajustes de parmetros de la ltima marcha se visualizan.
5.2.2 Insercin del rotor
Condicin
Al fijar o soltar el rotor del eje del motor, la temperatura del rotor y del eje del motor tiene que
encontrarse en el rango de 10 30 C.

1. Coloque el rotor verticalmente sobre el eje del motor.

determinada y ajstela si fuera necesario.
5.2.4 Carga del rotor

 Cargue los adaptadores solo con los tubos o placas adecuados.
ATENCIN!  Utilice siempre tubos o placas del mismo tipo (peso, material/densidad y volumen).
 Compruebe la carga simtrica tarando los adaptadores y tubos o placas utilizados con una
bscula.

Rotores de ngulo fijo

Los rotores de ngulo fijo solo se deben utilizar con las respectivas tapas de rotor
adecuadas. Esto se indica mediante la inscripcin del nombre del respectivo rotor tanto en el

Para realizar un centrifugado hermtico al aerosol, se debe utilizar un rotor hermtico al
aerosol combinado con la tapa del rotor correspondiente.

Para cargar el rotor, proceda del siguiente modo:

1. Compruebe la carga mxima (adaptador, tubo y contenido) permisible para cada orificio de
rotor.
La indicacin de esta se encuentra en el rotor y en el manual de instrucciones.
2. Cargue los rotores y los adaptadores solo con los tubos previstos para ello.
3. Introduzca los tubos por parejas en posicin opuesta en los orificios del rotor. Para una carga
simtrica, los tubos en posicin opuesta tienen que ser del mismo tipo y contener la misma
cantidad de sustancia.
Para que la diferencia de peso entre los tubos de muestras llenos sea la mnima posible, es
recomendable el pesaje con una bscula. A travs de ello se protege el accionamiento y se
reducen los ruidos de funcionamiento.
4. Coloque y fije la tapa del rotor.

Rotores de amortiguacin
Condicin
Una combinacin de rotor, dispositivos de suspensin y adaptadores autorizada por
Eppendorf.
Los dispositivos de suspensin estn clasificados segn la clase de peso. Los dispositivos
de suspensin opuestos deben pertenecer a la misma clase de peso. Esta clase de peso
est grabada lateralmente en la ranura: p.ej. 68 (los 2 ltimos dgitos, en gramos). Cuando
realice un pedido suplementario (tambin de dispositivos de suspensin de placas), indique
la clase de peso existente.
Tubos y placas adecuados y comprobados.
No retire los elementos de gua centrales del adaptador modular del frasco rectangular para
aumentar, p.ej., la capacidad mediante el centrifugado escalonado.

Dao del adaptador por un montaje en pila errneo

 Monte los adaptadores de frascos rectangulares solo en una fila cerrada desde el suelo del
frasco. No deje ningn espacio entre los mdulos.
ES AVISO!

Un llenado en exceso de las placas conlleva reboses.

Durante la marcha, los meniscos dentro de los tubos en los bordes de las placas se encuentran

en posicin oblicua. Esto est condicionado por la fuerza centrfuga y es algo inevitable.
AVISO!
 Llene los pocillos de las placas como mximo hasta 2/3 del mximo volumen de llenado.
Para cargar el rotor, proceda del siguiente modo:
1. Compruebe si las ranuras del dispositivo de suspensin estn limpias y engrselas
moderadamente con grasa de perno (n. de pedido int.: 5810 350.050/
Norteamrica: 022634330).
Las ranuras y gorrones sucios impiden la oscilacin uniforme de los dispositivos de
suspensin.
2. Enganche los dispositivos de suspensin en el rotor.
Todas las posiciones del rotor deben estar ocupadas con dispositivos de suspensin.
3. Compruebe que todos los dispositivos de suspensin estn bien colgados y que se pueden
balancear libremente.
4. Al utilizar por primera vez un tipo de placas o en caso de recipientes extra largos (> 100 mm),
realizar una prueba de carga y oscilacin manual.
5. Compruebe la carga mxima por dispositivo de suspensin (adaptador, tubo o placa y
contenido) y la altura de carga.
La indicacin de esta se encuentra en el rotor y en el manual de instrucciones.
6. Cargue los cestillos simtricamente.

El equipamiento de placas mostrado en la parte derecha es errneo, ya que los dispositivos

de suspensin no pueden oscilar correctamente as.
Se aplica el mismo principio para la carga del rotor A-4-81-MTP/Flex con 4 placas.
Las placas tienen un ligero juego dentro de los dispositivos de suspensin.

Para la estabilizacin mecnica, en los rotores A-4-44 y A-4-62/A-4-62-MTP todos los

puestos deben cargarse con los mismos dispositivos de suspensin.
5.2.5 Cierre de la tapa de la centrfuga
1. Compruebe la fijacin correcta del rotor y de su tapa.

2. Presione la tapa de la centrfuga hacia abajo hasta que el bloqueo de la tapa enganche y la
tapa se cierre automticamente.
La centrfuga se cierra automticamente.

5.3 Refrigeracin (solo 5804 R/5810 R)

5.3.1 Ajuste de temperatura
 Seleccione el ajuste de temperatura con el botn temp.
 Ajuste la temperatura con los botones de flecha de -9 a +40 C.
5.3.2 Indicacin de temperatura
En caso de parada del rotor: Temperatura terica
Durante el centrifugado: Temperatura real

5.3.3 Supervisin de temperatura

Despus de alcanzar la temperatura terica, la centrfuga reacciona de la siguiente manera a
desviaciones de temperatura que ocurren durante el centrifugado:

5.3.4 FastTemp
Con esta funcin se inicia directamente una marcha de calentamiento sin muestras con una
velocidad especfica del rotor y la temperatura, para llevar rpidamente la cmara del rotor con
rotor, dispositivos de suspensin y adaptadores, a la temperatura terica determinada
anteriormente.
Condicin
La centrfuga est encendida.
El rotor y la tapa del rotor estn montados correctamente.
La tapa de la centrfuga est cerrada.
La temperatura y la fuerza de la gravedad (FCR)/velocidad (rpm) estn definidas para el
centrifugado posterior (ver Centrifugado en pg. 173).
1. Pulse el botn FastTemp.
En el indicador se muestran de izquierda a derecha: valor real de la temperatura, FT, fuerza
de la gravedad (FCR)/velocidad (rpm) y -- (tiempo).
La marcha de calentamiento finaliza automticamente al alcanzar la temperatura terica. Un
tono de aviso se escucha peridicamente.
ES 2. Pulse el botn start/stop para finalizar la marcha de calentamiento antes de tiempo.
Despus de alcanzar la temperatura terica, y despus de finalizar la marcha de calentamiento,
la centrfuga mantiene la temperatura del compartimiento del rotor con la tapa de la centrfuga
cerrada a la temperatura terica ajustada, si sta se encuentra por debajo de la temperatura
ambiente. Independientemente de la temperatura terica, no se llega a exceder una temperatura

de 4 C durante esta refrigeracin continua para evitar que el compartimiento del rotor se
congele.

La centrfuga finaliza la marcha automticamente, en cuanto el rotor y los cestillos estn

completamente calentados. Por esta razn es posible que se produzca un retardo entre la
indicacin de la temperatura terica alcanzada y el fin automtico de la marcha de
calentamiento.

Al utilizar frascos hermticos al aerosol, realice una marcha FastTemp con temperaturas bajas

siempre sin tapa. Si no, las tapas pueden adherirse por succin debido al vaco. No tire de las
asas o los enganches para quitar la tapa. Caliente los frascos a temperatura ambiente para
poder quitar las tapas con facilidad.

5.3.5 Refrigeracin continua

Cuando el rotor est detenido, el compartimiento del rotor es mantenido a la temperatura terica,
siempre y cuando se den las siguientes condiciones:
La centrfuga est encendida.
La tapa de la centrfuga est cerrada.
La temperatura terica es inferior a la temperatura ambiente.
La centrfuga no se encuentra en el modo standby.
Durante la refrigeracin continua sirve lo siguiente:
La temperatura terica y real se muestran alternativamente.
Independientemente de la temperatura terica, no se llega a exceder la temperatura de 4 C
para evitar as que el compartimiento del rotor se congele y se produzca demasiado
condensado en el interior del aparato.
Como el rotor no gira, la adaptacin de la temperatura sucede con ms lentitud.
Para finalizar la refrigeracin continua, abra la tapa de la centrfuga o presione el botn standby.
Si la centrfuga no se utiliza durante ms de 8 horas, la refrigeracin continua se desconecta
automticamente (ECO shut-off). El aparato conmuta entonces al modo standby. Esto protege
contra la formacin de hielo en el compartimiento del rotor y contra la formacin aumentada de
condensado en el interior del aparato. En el indicador aparece standby off y la temperatura
medida en la cmara del rotor. Con FastTemp puede volver a alcanzar la temperatura deseada
rpidamente (ver en pg. 172).
Tambin puede cambiar del apagado automtico de la refrigeracin continua despus de 8
horas (ECO shut-off) a una refrigeracin continua ilimitada.

Congelacin y sobrecalentamiento del compresor por la refrigeracin continua.

 Apague la centrfuga con regularidad para eliminar una eventual formacin de hielo mediante
descongelacin.
AVISO!
 Elimine regularmente el agua de condensacin dentro de la cmara del rotor empleando un
pao absorbente suave.
 Vace y limpie regularmente la bandeja de agua de condensacin.

1. Pulse los botones temp y prog al mismo tiempo.

En el indicador aparece Standby 8h.
2. Pulse inmediatamente el botn FastTemp.
El funcionamiento ilimitado para la refrigeracin continua se activa. En el indicador aparece
Standby endless.
3. Para volver a cambiar a Standby 8h, repita el proceso.

5.4 Centrifugado ES
La condicin para cada variante de centrfuga aqu descrita es la preparacin mencionada
anteriormente (ver Preparacin del centrifugado en pg. 169).
5.4.1 Centrifugado con ajuste de tiempo

Ejecute los siguientes pasos en el orden indicado:
1. Ajuste de velocidad (rpm): pulse una vez. Ajuste de fuerza de gravedad (FCR): pulse varias
veces hasta que aparezca tambin el smbolo en el indicador.
La fuerza de la gravedad (FCR)/velocidad (rpm) parpadea y se puede ajustar con los
botones de flecha.
Al ajustar la fuerza de la gravedad (FCR), controle tambin el radio ajustado.
2. Defina con los botones de flecha la fuerza de la gravedad (FCR)/velocidad (rpm).
El valor terico nuevo se muestra en el indicador.
3. Seleccione el ajuste de tiempo de ejecucin y fjelo con los botones de flecha.

4. Solo 5804 R/5810 R: seleccione el ajuste de temperatura y fjelo con los botones de flecha.

5. Inicie el centrifugado.
En el indicador parpadea mientras el rotor est en marcha.
El tiempo de ejecucin restante se indica en minutos. El ltimo minuto se cuenta hacia atrs
en segundos.
Solo 5804 R/5810 R: la temperatura actual es indicada.
Se muestra la fuerza de la gravedad (FCR)/velocidad (rpm) actuales del rotor.
Puede visualizar todos los valores tericos pulsando un botn de parmetro (Temp, Speed,
Time) durante 2,5 s.
Puede finalizar el centrifugado antes de tiempo con el botn start/stop.
Una vez transcurrido el tiempo ajustado, la centrfuga se detiene automticamente.
Durante el proceso de frenado, el tiempo de centrifugado transcurrido es indicado de forma
parpadeante.
6. Abra la tapa de la centrfuga cuando el botn se ilumine.

7. Extraiga las sustancias centrifugadas.

El tiempo de ejecucin total, la temperatura (solo Centrifuge 5804 R/5810 R) y la fuerza de la

gravedad (FCR)/velocidad (rpm) se pueden modificar durante la marcha. Los nuevos parmetros
son adoptados de inmediato. El tiempo ya transcurrido se calcula con el tiempo de ejecucin
total recin definido. Observe que el nuevo tiempo de ejecucin total ms breve ajustable es tan
solo el tiempo de ejecucin ya transcurrido ms 2 minutos.

5.4.2 Otras posibilidades de centrifugado: funcionamiento continuo y Short Spin

 Para una ejecucin permanente, ajuste el tiempo de ejecucin por debajo de 1 min o por
encima de 99 min.
En el indicador se visualiza el smbolo SH.
 Inicie un centrifugado short spin con una fuerza de la gravedad (FCR)/velocidad (rpm)
recin ajustada o mx. con la tapa de la centrfuga cerrada, pulsando el botn short. Para
parar, sultelo.
5.4.3 Extraccin del rotor

Condicin
Al fijar o soltar el rotor del eje del motor, la temperatura del rotor y del eje del motor tiene que
encontrarse en el rango de 10 30 C.

5.4.4 Modo standby
 Puede conmutar en cualquier momento entre el modo standby y el estado operativo del
aparato pulsando el botn standby, excepto durante un centrifugado.

El indicador se apaga.
El botn de standby se ilumina en rojo.
Solo 5804 R/5810 R: la cmara del rotor no se refrigera (ver Refrigeracin continua en
pg. 172).

Modo operativo
Se visualizan los parmetros de centrifugado.
El botn standby se ilumina de color verde.
Solo 5804 R/5810 R: el compartimiento del rotor es refrigerado cuando la tapa de la
centrfuga est cerrada (ver Refrigeracin continua en pg. 172).

6 Mantenimiento
6 Mantenimiento

6.1 Mantenimiento

Las extremidades pueden resultar aplastadas por la cada de una tapa de centrfuga que
tenga los muelles de gas defectuosos.
Un muelle de gas defectuoso no puede sujetar la tapa de la centrfuga correctamente.
ADVERTENCIA!
 Cercirese de que la tapa de la centrfuga se pueda abrir completamente y se quede en esa
posicin.
 Compruebe con regularidad el correcto funcionamiento del muelle de gas.
 Deje que muelles de gas defectuosos sean sustituidos de inmediato.
Recomendamos que cada 2 aos un tcnico del servicio posventa se encargue de reemplazar
los muelles de gas.

Recomendamos que se realice una comprobacin de la centrfuga y sus rotores, cada doce
meses como mximo, a travs del servicio tcnico en el marco del mantenimiento. Tenga en ES
cuenta las disposiciones nacionales.

6.2 Preparacin de la limpieza / desinfeccin

 Limpie las superficies accesibles del aparato y de los accesorios por lo menos una vez por

semana, y en caso de un fuerte ensuciamiento.
 Limpie el rotor con regularidad. De esta manera se protege y se prolonga su vida til.
 Consulte adems las indicaciones de descontaminacin (ver Descontaminacin antes del
envo en pg. 178), cuando mande el aparato al servicio tcnico autorizado para su
reparacin.
El proceso descrito en el captulo siguiente sirve tanto para la limpieza como tambin para la
desinfeccin o descontaminacin. En la siguiente tabla se describen los pasos que se requieren
adicionalmente:

6.3 Realizacin de la limpieza / desinfeccin

Descarga elctrica debido a la penetracin de lquidos.

 Apague el aparato y desenchfelo de la alimentacin elctrica antes de empezar los trabajos
de limpieza o de desinfeccin.
PELIGRO!
 No permita que ningn lquido llegue al interior de la carcasa.
 No realice ninguna desinfeccin por pulverizacin en la carcasa.
 Solo vuelva a enchufar el aparato a la toma de corriente cuando ste est completamente
seco.

Daos por sustancias qumicas agresivas

 De ninguna manera utilice sustancias qumicas agresivas como, por ejemplo, bases fuertes o
dbiles, cidos fuertes, acetona, formaldehdos, hidrgeno halogenado o fenol con el aparato
AVISO! y sus accesorios.
 Cuando el aparato est contaminado por sustancias qumicas agresivas, lmpielo con un
ES detergente suave.

Corrosin producida por productos de limpieza y desinfeccin agresivos.

 No utilice productos de limpieza corrosivos ni disolventes agresivos o abrillantadores

 No mantenga los accesorios durante mucho tiempo en incubacin en productos agresivos de

limpieza o de desinfeccin.

Daos por rayos UV u otro tipo de radiacin rica en energa.

 No realice ninguna desinfeccin con rayos UV, beta o gamma ni con ningn otro tipo de
radiacin rica en energa.
AVISO!

Tratar en autoclave
Nota!
Todos los rotores, tapas del rotor, dispositivos de suspensin, adaptadores y frascos excepto la
cruz del rotor A-4-81 pueden ser autoclavados (121 C, 20 min).
Sustituya la tapa del FA-45-30-11 despus de diez ciclos de autoclave (121C, 20 min) como
mximo. Sustituya la obturacin en la ranura de la tapa de los rotores FA-45-6-30 y A-2-DWP-AT
despus de 50 ciclos de autoclave como mximo.
El rotor FA-45-30-11 hermtico al aerosol se puede autoclavar para eliminar priones a 142 C
durante 2 h. En este caso, tenga en cuenta que deber cambiar la tapa el rotor despus de cada
autoclave.

Estanqueidad del aerosol

Nota!
Asegrese de la integridad de las juntas antes de la utilizacin.
Cambie las tapas de rotor de los rotores hermticos al aerosol en caso de desgaste de los anillos
de junta en el tornillo de la tapa y en la ranura de la tapa. El mantenimiento regular de los anillos
de junta es necesario para la proteccin de los rotores.
Nunca almacene los rotores hermticos al aerosol con la tapa puesta
Engrase regularmente la rosca de la tapa de los rotores hermticos al aerosol (n. de pedido int.:
5810 350.050/Norteamrica: 022634330).

Rotores de amortiguacin
Nota!
Antes de la limpieza del rotor elimine la grasa vieja de las ranuras y de los pivotes.
Asegrese de la limpieza de las ranuras y los pernos. Las ranuras y gorrones sucios impiden
la oscilacin uniforme de los dispositivos de suspensin.
Engrase ligeramente los gorrones del rotor y las ranuras del dispositivo de suspensin
despus de la limpieza con grasa para gorrones (n. de ped. int.: 5810 350.050/
Norteamrica: 022634330), para que los dispositivos de suspensin se balanceen.

6.3.1 Limpieza y desinfeccin del aparato

1. Apague el aparato mediante el interruptor principal estando la tapa abierta y retire el enchufe
de la alimentacin elctrica.
2. Suelte la tuerca del rotor girndola con la llave del rotor en contra del sentido de las agujas
del reloj.
3. Retire el rotor.
4. Para la limpieza y desinfeccin del aparato y de la cmara del rotor debe utilizar los ES
desinfectantes mencionados anteriormente (ver en pg. 175).
5. Limpie con un pao hmedo todas las superficies accesibles del aparato y de los accesorios,
inclusive el cable de alimentacin.
6. Enjuague la junta de goma de la cmara del rotor con bastante agua.

7. Una vez seca, aplique talco o glicerina para evitar que se vuelva quebradiza. Los dems
componentes del aparato, como p.ej. el bloqueo de la tapa, los muelles de la tapa, el rbol
del motor y el cono del rotor, no se deben engrasar.
8. Limpie el eje del rotor con un pao blando, seco y que no deje pelusas.
9. Controle que el aparato y los accesorios no presenten daos o corrosin.

6.3.2 Limpieza y desinfeccin del rotor

Despus de cada 200 marchas, la centrfuga muestra 3 veces el mensaje clean rotor para

recordarle la limpieza regular del rotor.

1. Limpie y desinfecte los rotores, tapas del rotor, dispositivos de suspensin, adaptadores y
frascos con los productos mencionados anteriormente (ver en pg. 175).
2. Para la limpieza y desinfeccin de las perforaciones de los rotores debe utilizar un cepillo
para botellas.
3. Lave los rotores, tapas del rotor, dispositivos de suspensin, adaptadores y frascos con
abundante agua. Preste especial atencin a las perforaciones de los rotores de ngulo fijo.
No sumerja el rotor ya que puede entrar lquido.
4. Deje secar los rotores y accesorios sobre un pao. Coloque los rotores de ngulo fijo con las
perforaciones boca abajo para que stas tambin se sequen.
5. Limpie el cono del rotor con un pao blando, seco y libre de pelusas, y compruebe si hay
daos. No engrase el cono del rotor.
6. Coloque el rotor seco en el eje del motor.
7. Enrosque la tuerca del rotor girndola con la llave del rotor en el sentido de las agujas del
reloj con fuerza.
8. En caso necesario, equipe el rotor de ngulo fijo con los adaptadores limpios y el rotor
basculante con los dispositivos de suspensin y adaptadores limpios.

6.4 Indicaciones de cuidado adicionales para la Centrifuge 5804 R/5810 R

 Vace y limpie la bandeja colectora de agua de condensacin con regularidad, especialmente
en el caso de derramarse lquido en el compartimiento del rotor. Extraiga el recipiente
colector de agua condensada hacia delante a la derecha, debajo del aparato.
 Tambin limpie con regularidad el vertedor de agua de condensacin utilizando, p.ej., una
escobilla para limpiar botellas.
 Elimine con regularidad el hielo que se forme en el compartimiento del rotor mediante
descongelacin. Para ello simplemente deje la tapa de la centrfuga abierta o ejecute un
breve proceso de calentamiento a unos 30 C.
 Deje la tapa de la centrfuga abierta cuando no la vaya a utilizar durante un largo periodo de
tiempo.
La humedad sobrante puede escaparse.
El muelle de presin de gas se descarga.
 Limpie el agua de condensacin que se haya acumulado en el compartimiento del rotor.
Utilice para ello un pao absorbente suave.
ES  Elimine el polvo de las ranuras de ventilacin de la centrfuga como mximo cada medio ao,
utilizando un pincel o una escobilla. Antes de la limpieza, apague la centrfuga y extraiga el
enchufe de la toma de corriente.

6.5 Rotura de vidrio

Tenga en cuenta al utilizar recipientes de vidrio que el riesgo de rotura de vidrio aumenta con

una FCR (en g)/velocidad (rpm) creciente. Tenga en cuenta las especificaciones de los
fabricantes de los recipientes respecto a los parmetros de centrifugado (carga y velocidad)
recomendados.

Las astillas de vidrio araan la superficie de la cmara del rotor y de los accesorios (rotores,
tapas del rotor, dispositivos de suspensin, adaptadores y frascos), de manera que su
resistencia a agentes qumicos se reduce. En la cmara del rotor se produce un polvo metlico

daos que puedan causar a los accesorios y al rotor, tambin puede provocar una
contaminacin de las muestras.
 En caso de rotura de vidrio, debe retirar cuidadosamente todas las astillas y todo el vidrio
pulverizado del interior de la cmara del rotor y de los accesorios (rotores, tapas del rotor,
dispositivos de suspensin, adaptadores y frascos).
 En caso necesario, sustituya las esterillas de goma y los adaptadores para evitar posteriores
deterioros.
 Compruebe regularmente si hay residuos o daos en los orificios del rotor.

6.6 Descontaminacin antes del envo

Cuando enve el aparato en caso de reparacin al Servicio Tcnico autorizado o en el caso de
eliminacin del mismo a su concesionario, rogamos tenga en cuenta lo siguiente:

Si las medidas propuestas fracasan repetidamente, pngase en contacto con el servicio tcnico.

7.1 Reconexin del cortacircuito

En los aparatos de 230 y 120 V hay cortacircuitos trmicos integrados como fusibles (para todos
los polos). Estos desconectan el interruptor cuando se activa la proteccin contra
sobretensiones, pero no lo vuelven a encender automticamente.
Para reconectar el cortacircuito, proceda del modo siguiente:
1. Apague la centrfuga mediante el interruptor de red.
2. Espere por lo menos 20 s y vuelva a encender la centrfuga.

7.4 Desbloqueo de emergencia

En caso de que no pueda abrir la tapa de la centrfuga, puede confirmar manualmente el
desbloqueo de emergencia.

3. Introduzca la llave del rotor en la abertura hexagonal trasera hasta encontrar el tope.
4. Gire la llave del rotor ejerciendo presin en el sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj.

5. Abra la tapa de la centrfuga.
6. Retire la llave de rotor y coloque de nuevo las tapas de plstico.
