COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course presents the study of American literature
through its major periods. Students read short stories,
novels, dramas, poetry, and non-ction. Composition
work emphasizes formal research and various types of
essays including literary criticism and argumentation.
Students will develop these compositions by locating,
evaluating, synthesizing, and citing applicable
information with careful attention to organization and
accuracy.Through reading, writing, speaking, listening,
and viewing, students explore the various prevalent
themes and characterizations present in American
literature which are reective of the history and culture.
