A plantation in brazil important because it


was one of the first wheel companies and
still famous today. This was a rubber
plantation showing peoples payday. This
showed people around the world and how
they worked for these big companies like
today.

Alcatraz island prison train unloading August 29, 1934

In 1934, Alcatraz was officially bought


by the department of justice to
contain the most notorious criminals
in the United States. This picture is
important because it is history and is a
tourist place. The picture shows them
unloading top criminals into the island.
These were prisoners and guards.
Amelia Earhart Flies From Honolulu,
Hawaii To Oakland, California 1935
On January 11, 1935, Amelia Earhart
flew solo non-stop in a 24,000 mile trip
for 18 hours straight. The picture
illustrates her safe arrival at Oakland
the people were reporters and people
she knew. This is an important event
because she was the first female to fly
solo .
Jesse Owens Wins Four Gold Medals At The
1936 Berlin Olympic Games
In June 20, 1936, Jesse Owens
participated in the Olympic Games at
Berlin, Germany. He won four gold
medals, setting world records, it is
important because he defied Adolf
Hitlers Aryan race superiority. This
shook everyone around the world and
the people in this photo were mixed
from people around the world.
Hindenburg Disaster, May 6, 1937

The German passenger Zeppelin


LZ 129 Hindenburg burst into
flames trying to dock in Lakehurst
Naval Air Station in the U.S. There
were a total of 36 fatalities with
the destruction of the airship. This
event was important because the
airship attraction plummeted after
this incident.
The War of the Worlds broadcast
Causes Nationwide Panic, 1938
In October 30, 1938, Orson Welles
narrated and broadcasted a Story
written by H.G. Wells, titled, The
War of the Worlds, causing
people within the U.S. to panic
and evacuate to safety from the
Martian invasion. The image was
taken during the broadcast of the
novel.
The Murder of the Handicapped, 1939

On September 1, 1939, Adolf


Hitler ordered the extermination
of those who are mentally ill or
handicapped. The Hartheim Castle
was used as a euthanasia killing
center. The image is important
because of what the castle
represented during the mass
murder.
Prisoners of the First Transport to
Auschwitz June 14, 1940
The picture is historically significant in
the sense that these were the first
Jewish prisoners to enter Auschwitz
during WWII. This impacts society
emotionally having a long term effect
because this was the beginning of a
massacre. This photo took place in
Tarnow, where there are German
soldiers and Jewish prisoners.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt Signs the
Lend-Lease Act to Support Allies, 1941
On March 11, 1941, President FDR
signs the Lend-Lease Act into law
to aid the Allies during WWII
against the Axis Powers. Here in
this picture, President FDR was
signing the act, changing the
course of WWII. This was
significant because it allowed for
the Allies to gain the advantage
during the war.
February 24, 1942 Battle of Los Angeles

The alarms rang and they shined


beams of light at the object. This
happened during World War II and
shots were fired for hours. They shot
anti-aircraft missiles, believing it was a
threat and the object didnt go down
and still remains a mystery. The people
here were military and artillery. It is
important because it was during WWII.
The Recovery of USS Oklahoma BB-37
March 28, 1943
This was during WWII very important
historical event that many people dont know
about. This is a very significant event because
it reflects of the historical event of the attack
on Pearl Harbor. The people in this photo
were navy soldiers recovering the ship USS
Oklahoma BB-37. This ship was hit by three
torpedoes and when tipping over was hit
again by two more.
