Course Aims :
- Introducing the United States through its history before 1775, the American Revolution and the Birth of the new Nation with
the structure of its government and the first political parties.
- This course is designed to provide students with an introduction to the major political, economic, social, and cultural
developments in the United States from the initial contact of Native Americans, Europeans, and Africans through the end of
formation of American Institutions. The principal interests will be the contact among peoples of three different continents, the
creation of an "American" people, and the changing definitions of freedom and equality.
