Lesson idea implementation:
The students have been learning about European exploration to North America. We have focused on six
explorers. The students have notes on the explorers and the lands that they explored. Students will take the
information about the explorers and make a timeline indicating when the explorers explored, what they
found, and a picture of the explorer. The timeline should be in order based on dates of discoveries. They will
create their timeline on ReadWriteThink.
This should take 1 day to complete. The students will be graded on if they can correctly identify the six
explorers and the land in which they found. This will be a great source for a study guide because it will have
explorers and the explored countries. To expand this lesson the teacher can have the students choose one of
the explorers and research their journey to discovering what they found. The students can then make a
timeline on the specific explorer.
