RULES for Advisory Olympics 11th and 12th Grade

DODGEBALL
Game: 11th and 12th grade will be in a single elimination dodgeball tournament ran in the gym
by Coach Sullivan.

When Do you Play: In each tournament bracket each game will have a number. Know your
game number. If you look at your grade’s schedule, and bracket, you will find the day and the
games associated with that day. On the bracket you will see the game numbers. If you are
playing that day, please report to the gym at the beginning of the period. Your advisory will be
able to sit in the stands and watch the competition.

Game Length: Each Game will be 9 to 10 minutes long (dependent on time), or will end by one
team being eliminated from the games.

RULES:

1. Single elimination tournament (you can be a one and done, or play up to 5 games).
2. Your team can have everyone play, but not everyone has to play. Thus… it may be 22
against 8, but this is how it will play out.
3. The basketball court is the playing area.
4. 10 balls will start in the middle, and each team will line up on respective baselines.
5. On the whistle teams will collect as many balls as possible; balls must be returned to
touch the baseline wall prior to throwing.
6. If player is hit by a ball he/she is out, can return in the game (see more rules).
7. If player’s throw is caught they are out, and one player from their team may return in to
the game.
8. If a player throws the ball, and it contacts a ball/backboard/net/wall it cannot be caught
for an out/and if caught a player on catcher’s team may not be able to enter the game.
9. If player is hit by ball, and then the ball is caught, there will be no-player eliminated, it is
thus a wash.
10. If a basket is made all teammates from that team are out may return to the game.
11. Players that are out must remain out in the order they were eliminated, failure to stay in
order will result in that players elimination from the game.
12. Game will end when 1 team is completely eliminated from the game, or at the end of
the 10 minute period. If we have a 10 minute expiration the team with the most players
participating will advance in the tournament.
