ART DEPARTMENT HARBORFIELDS HIGH SCHOOL

MRS. RITTER FALL 2017


Please read these expectations carefully (with a parent/guardian) so you understand what is expected of
you and how you can succeed in my class!​ It is due back signed as your first HW on 9/12/17.

ALL STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO​: (Be Responsible, Respectful, and Cooperative)
● Arrive to class on time​, (with all bathroom, water fountain, or locker needs taken care of before class)
and be in their assigned seats for attendance.
● Put away all Cell phones, or other electronic devices before entering class.
● NOT​ bring food​ or beverages into the art room (It is a potential health hazard!)
● Purchase and bring in all the supplies​ needed by the due date , according to the Art Supply List
provided.(please speak with me if this is a problem)
● Complete all assignments thoroughly​ and hand them in ​on time​ along with the rubric. Lateness will
affect your grade! (5 pt. reduction for each day late)
● Keep all work in its designated place​. ​Students are held accountable for all of their work.​ Do Not
Misplace It! Upload it to Google Classroom as instructed.
● Include their name and period number​ on all artwork so credit can be given.
● Clean up​ their supplies and work area when clean up is announced before the end of the period.
Students must return to their seats for the close of the lesson, and class will not be dismissed until the
teacher OK’s the room condition
● Adhere to all the rules of HHS’s​ attendance policy and if ever absent, speak with me after class the
day you return to school.
● Arrange to speak with me ​after​ class​ if you have questions about a grade, or you need extra help.
● Be respectful and courteous​ towards your teacher, your classmates, and their artwork, as well as the
art room and the supplies in it at all times!

If Students:
● Have a problem with the work assigned or are being disturbed by anyone​, please inform me
immediately. Everyone is entitled to learn and work in a civilized, respectful environment without
being disturbed or harassed.
● Do not adhere to the rules of the art room, cut class, or arrive late to class,​ disciplinary action will
be taken. Parents and the Student Management Office will be notified.
● Are concerned about their clothing​ they should bring in a smock (or apron) - it is strongly
recommended. ​Refusal to participate is not an option​.

Each student’s report card grade is comprised of the following:


65% for classroom projects /tests 20% for class participation 15% for homework

Extra Help:​ Availability will be posted on door. (Note: students can re-work projects after they are
graded to improve them and re-submit them within one week to be re-graded.)

**Class Requirement:​ Students are required to maintain their Google Classroom account. Parents if
you are interested in monitoring your student’s progress via Google Classroom please e-mail me.

STUDIO ART SUPPLY LIST


➢ 10 Pencils (sharpened)
➢ 1 pencil sharpener
➢ Small set of drawing pencils (for shading)

➢ 2 erasers (1 white preferred/1 kneaded)


➢ 1 ruler
➢ 4 Fine point and 4 Extra Fine point Black Sharpie markers
➢ set of colored pencils (at least six colors)
➢ 4 empty plastic Ziploc bags
➢ 1 sandwich size Ziploc filled with cotton balls and Q-tips
➢ Folder for handouts (3 hole punch with pockets)
➢ Sketchbook approx. 9”x12” must have unlined paper, spiral
preferred

➢ 1 portfolio folder approx. 17”x22 or 18” x 24”


(no larger please)
➢ Suggested: smock or apron for students concerned about clothing

Students will receive a class participation grade for having all the needed supplies.
