do next? Here’s a rundown of the exact steps you need to follow —
plus detailed instructions on how to complete each step — to build a
business with any one of these products:
1. Choose the product you want to sell
2. Find a supplier
3. Set up your business (if you don’t already have one)
4. Choose where you’re going to sell the product
5. Launch a marketing campaign to kickstart sales

STEP 1: CHOOSE THE PRODUCT
YOU WANT TO SELL
Use the list above to choose which product you want to sell.
Anything on the list will and already does sell, but you might
want to select according to personal preference, since you will be
building a business around this product.
Ideally, the product you choose should be something you would
personally use. For example, if you like cooking, a kitchen-related
product is probably a good option. If you like running, you may
want to select a running- or fitness-related product.
Make a list of at least three product opportunities, just in case the
next step proves troublesome for one of the products.

STEP 2: FIND A SUPPLIER
Finding a supplier for any physical product is pretty simple if you
know how and where to look.
Start by doing a web search for the product name followed by the
word “manufacturer.” For example, if you’re going to sell a running
belt, you’d simply search for “running belt manufacturer.” This will
give you just about every supplier option you could possibly need.
Second — and this likely won’t be necessary since these results will
show up in your initial web search — you can go to Alibaba.com
and search for just the product name (“running belt,” for example).
Alibaba is a supplier directory website that allows you to quickly
find suppliers for thousands of different products. Most of these
suppliers are located in China.

STEP 3: SET UP YOUR BUSINESS
If you don’t already have a company, you’ll probably want to
set one up with the help of a qualified attorney. Just search for
“business attorney” in your area and you’ll find attorneys who can
help you legally establish your company.
For example, if you live in New York, it’s as easy as searching
“business attorney New York.” You’ll instantly see a list of names
with locations and ratings.
As a business owner, you’ll always want a business attorney and
business accountant who can help you with legal and accounting
matters. It’s best to start building your professional team in these
early stages — before you begin selling your product.

STEP 4: CHOOSE WHERE YOU’RE
GOING TO SELL THE PRODUCT
Now that you know what you’re going to sell and how you’re going
to source the product (your supplier), you need to choose where
you’re going to sell it.
An easy place to start is Amazon.com. You can set up an Amazon
Seller Central account (http://sellercentral.amazon.com) in about
10 minutes and start selling your product on Amazon.com.

What is Amazon Seller Central? It’s Amazon’s web-based tool
that allows you to manage your orders that go through Checkout
by Amazon. In Seller Central you can manage orders, integrate
your website, view sales reports, tweak your customer-facing
information, and much more!
Alternatively, you can set up your own online store using a platform
such as Shopify (http://shopify.com) and sell your product through
your own website.

STEP 5: LAUNCH A
MARKETING CAMPAIGN
TO KICKSTART SALES
Now that you have a product to sell and a place to sell it, the only
step left is telling people how to find it.
One strategy Amazing.com and hundreds of its members employ

social network, Facebook, to find and engage with
potential customers.

Using Facebook as a marketing tool involves four steps:
1. Set up a Facebook brand page for your business or product
brand. Read Facebook’s overview of how to do this at https://

2. Start creating content related to your product’s market. For
example, if you’re selling a running product, you can create
articles, lists, or even videos related to running. You can
create new content, or simply pull useful content from the
internet (such as news stories, YouTube videos, etc.). Aim to
post one to three times per day on your new page.

3. Run Facebook advertisements. Start targeting people who
are interested in topics related to your product. Get them to
your page to build engagement and acquire followers.
4. Between content posts, start adding information about your
product specifically. This can be pure information (benefits,
features, etc.) or special offers (coupons, deals, etc.). Include
one product-focused post for about every ten content-
focused posts.
