FP - Spec - 01 - Hevy Julia Umbara - Developing Standard Geothermal Data Model For Professional Geotherma

The document discusses the development of a standard data model for managing geothermal data. It begins with background on increasing geothermal development activities in Indonesia and the large volumes of data being generated. Without proper data management, valuable time is spent searching for data instead of analysis. The model aims to provide easy data access and sharing. It covers major data types like general information, geoscience, reservoirs, facilities, and inventory. The model establishes a framework to classify and organize vast amounts of geothermal exploration and production data for efficient use across departments. This will help expedite development by reducing time spent locating data and ensuring consistent data versions.

which is mainly divided into five modules namely; General
Data, Geosciences, Reservoir & Production, Surface
Facility, and Inventory. Each of these modules consisted of
many sub-folders which represent more specific data
categories (see Figure 1). The picture illustrates how these
data modules are classified to manage the data of specific
geothermal working area. General Data contains information
about the geothermal project details and administrations, it is
also including cartography & geography of the field and the
work, procurement & budget of the geothermal project.
Geosciences module definitely contains several technical
data attributes like aerial data, geology, geochemistry,
geophysics, well, and the report of resources assessment.
Reservoir and Production data table is created in a separated
module as it will only be applied to a well-developed
geothermal field. Surface Facility module consists of data

analysis is already conducted for this sample, user can find
the data in the Thin_Section table which resulted from any

foundation for any engineers to create a systematic
geothermal relational database management system. Only a
small fraction of the diagram is explained in this picture, this
relational model could be very complex depends on the data
user requirements and the ability of the database engineers
in creating streamline between those data.

The growth of geothermal development activities has

triggered the rise of geothermal data volume in particular
geothermal project. A standard platform for building a well-
managed geothermal database is needed to support the work
of geothermal database engineers. This paper explains how
the creation of standard geothermal data model could help
any geothermal entity in establishing its data management
system. The developed model represents a typical data
classification that usually used in the geothermal business
process. Its bulk data attribute tables are the root for the data
model, it can be modified to fit with any database design
requirement. Adapting a standard geothermal data model to
establish a master data management system will ease data
access and sharing as well as convert the time wasted for
difficult data searching into more productive analysis.
