DOE HDBK 1122 2009 - Part9

This document provides guidance for Phase IV of radiological control technician training, which focuses on practical training specific to individual facilities. Phase IV training is optional for sites with multiple facilities and allows technicians to qualify for tasks unique to a select facility, while maintaining their core qualification from Phase II training. The document outlines that Phase IV consists of documenting completed facility job performance measures through trainer/evaluator signatures and final verification by the student and radiological control manager.

Introduction
Phase IV: Facility Practical At DOE sites with more than one facility, and where RCT
Training tasks at each facility may differ, site and facility tasks should
be separated. The tasks that are common to all the facilities on
the site should be included in Phase II training with the core
tasks. Tasks unique to a facility should be added to the
training program qualification standard, as an attachment, as
Phase IV training. Not all the DOE sites will include Phase IV
training in their programs. Phase IV training allows each site
to qualify technicians to a select facility. Since the core
training for the technicians is standardized, the transfer of
technicians between facilities, within a DOE site, requires that
only facility tasks be taught, provided the core qualification is
current.
