UPDATE DESCRIPTION
Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) v5.00 supersedes HAP v4.91

Hourly Analysis Program v5.00 includes the following changes:

1. Air System Design and Modeling


a. Added simulation model for variable speed rotary compressor VRF condensing units.
b. Added ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2013 ventilation defaults and Ventilation Rate Procedure sizing
calculations.
c. Revised the Ventilation Sizing Summary report for terminal systems to more clearly communicate the
sizing of zone ventilation airflow and airflow for a dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS).
d. Updated terminology to consistently use Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) throughout the program.

2. Wizard Features
a. Added ability to model waterside economizer for air-cooled chiller plants in the Equipment Wizard.
b. Updated Energy Information Administration (EIA) utility price defaults to latest published data (2014).
c. Add features to default utility price data based on location selection, to synchronize electric and gas
prices, and to default HVAC equipment operating schedule based on building type.

3. Other
a. Added option to import project data from Carrier Building System Optimizer into HAP.
b. Updated air system, plant, and building simulation reports to export data to comma separated value (CSV)
file format.
c. Bug Fixes: Corrected 9 reported problems.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
To install HAP please use the procedures listed below. When installing to a network server, please refer to the
document Installing and Operating Carrier Software on Networks.

Prerequisites:
 Computer requirements: Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, or 10
 You received e-mails from Carrier containing download links and your customer number + authorization
code.

Installation procedure:
 Close all other programs that are currently running.
 Download Carrier X Builder Framework as instructed in the e-mail and double-click the installer file.
Installation of the software will begin. Follow the instructions which appear on your screen. When prompted,
please enter your company name exactly as it appears in the authorization code e-mail you received. If
you enter a different company name, the authorization code you enter later will not work.
 Next, download the HAP installer as instructed in the e-mail and double-click the installer file. Installation of
the software will begin. Follow the instructions which appear on the screen.

Use the following procedure to run HAP:
 From the Start menu choose the Programs or Apps menu.
 Choose the “Carrier E-CAT and E20-II Programs” group and then click on the “Hourly Analysis Program
5.00” item.
 The first time you run the program you will be asked to enter the “customer number” and the “authorization
code” shown on the e-mail you received from Carrier. After these have been entered, the codes will be
validated and the software will be activated. A message will show the expiration date for your license.
 Thereafter you will not need to enter the customer number or authorization code again. When 30 or fewer
days remain until expiration, the program will display a message at startup reminding you that expiration is
approaching.

PREVIOUS VERSION INFORMATION


1. HAP v5.00 will not replace HAP v4.90; both can be used simultaneously.
2. Data from HAP versions v4.0 thru v4.8 can be converted for use in HAP v4.9 using the “Convert HAP v4.x
Data” option on the Project Menu. Data can be converted from an active project or an archive file. Please refer
to the program help system (section 1.5) for details.

PROGRAM DOCUMENTATION
An electronic copy of the HAP Quick Reference Guide, in PDF format, is installed with HAP. It can be displayed
using an option on the Documentation menu. This manual includes an overview of the program, tutorials, example
problems and application advice.

The program’s help system provides complete documentation for the program. This includes a copy of the material
from the manual plus detailed discussions of program inputs, reports and calculation procedures. The help system can
be launched from the Help Menu, the Help button on the program toolbar, and by pressing the [F1] key.
