Profile
I am a native Dutch translator with a Law degree and a background in finance, working from English and Spanish into Dutch. In
addition to translation qualifications for English into Dutch and Spanish into Dutch, I have worked for several years in both law
and the financial services industry.

Experience

2004- present: I began working as a freelance translator in 2004 and since then I have translated a wide variety of financial,
corporate and legal documents as well other more general subjects for clients in the UK, the US, the Netherlands, Belgium and
Spain.

2000-2004: I worked for nearly 5 years as a research assistant and subsequently as an FSA registered securities
representative at the equities sales trading desk of an international investment bank (Dresdner Kleinwort) in Madrid. I gained a
thorough knowledge of the financial services industry, its processes and documentation in both English and Spanish.

1994-2000: After moving to Spain in 1994, I worked for 5 years as an in-house legal translator and paralegal at the legal
department of a consultancy firm in Madrid (International Venture Consultants). I was not only responsible for the translation and
language improvement of legal documents, but also assisted in the preparation of money claims and advice on Spanish legal &
tax matters for Dutch and UK clients. This experience helps me to undertake accurate and well-researched translations in the
legal field.

Before 1994: I worked on an in-house translation project for an international insurance company, and I developed learning
materials for a writing skills course for undergraduate students as a junior lecturer at Utrecht University.

Qualifications
-IoLET Diploma in Translation, English-Dutch (Institute of Linguists, UK, 2007)
-Cum laude degree in Spanish (MA), specializing in Translation (Utrecht University,1991)
-Sworn translator Spanish<>Dutch , registered in the Netherlands
-Dutch Law degree (MLL), (Utrecht University, 1993)
-Securities Institute, UK: SFA Securities Representative Certificate (Registered Persons Examination)
-Courses in financial analysis, law (diploma in Spanish tax law) and translation (City University, London), participation in
Continuing Professional Development courses and events.
