Go Negosyo

The true purpose of the youth summit “Go Negosyo” according to Joey
Concepcion (founder of Go Negosyo) was to inculcate to the youth the right mindset in
putting/starting up a business. We must have the right values to be possessed.
According to Atty. Felipe Gozon, current chief executive and chair of GMA Network Inc.,
one of the largest media networks in the Philippines, an entrepreneur must have a
positive work attitude and starts with the youth. He said that we are lawyers by
professions. The most economically progressive countries are the China and the United
States. He shared his experiences being an entrepreneur. An entrepreneur according to
him must realize his/her prorioties. He/she must have the courage and willingness to get
out of his comfort zone and don’t just be contented on what he/she had. One of his
inspiring message was “We do what we say, and we say what we do”. We must face
the challenges. Somebody may think something better for the following day. If you
manage to find yourself at the top, don’t just be contented by it, continue to embrace
change. Somehow, there is a better way on doing such things. Always remember, there
is someone who can able to do things you do at better manners. Take courage in every
failure, what matters is that don’t lose your lesson. These are the things I have learned
from him.
The next speaker was the Vice President of the Philippines, Hon. Jejomar Binay.
He told us a story based on a famous video uploading website. After sharing this with
us, he said that e have our own role in the society. Every individual must act according
on what is ethical. Based on Joey Ayala’s song, “Kung kaya nating isipin, kaya nating
gawin”, one step at the time, we can do things that we think are impossible.
One of the awardees of Go Negosyo was Injap Sia, founder of Mang Inasal. He
is from Iloilo. They first have one branch of Mang Inasal in 2003, as of now, they have
296 branches nationwide. The secret of his success according to him was a mixture of
right concept, discipline, focus and hardwork. He has a mind set of not to copy but to
innovate. He added that an entrepreneur should maximize time, be efficient and work
really hard. The next awardee was Mary Joy Abaquin who introduced the first multiple
intelligence schools in the country and in the process, multiplied her successes. In
1996, Abaquin founded Child’s Place, a preschool. Five years later, she established
The Multiple Intelligence International School (MI), a grade school. Both are progressive
and nontraditional and are anchored on the theory of multiple intelligence. “Child’s Place
and MI are the first multiple intelligence schools in the country,” claims Abaquin, a
staunch advocate of the theory. According to her every entrepreneur should possess
2I’s, intelligent and interest. In choosing a business, you must have knowledge in the
product/service of your business that you’re going to establish and it should have your
interest. The next awardee was Chris Tiu, a tv personality, host, basketball player and
at the same time an entrepreneur. His advice to the aspiring entrepreneurs was you
must be flexible in whatever career you have, and have an initiative in doing certain
things. The next one was Reeze Fernandez, the founder of Rags2Riches. Rag2Riches
was started by a group of individuals who wants to solve a social problem, the problem
in the Payatas area. These entrepreneurs called themselves as social entrepreneurs.
They turned rags into signature bags and purses in partnership of Rajo Laurela and
Amina Aranas. The next entrepreneur was Dylan Wilk. His story started when he has
everything but not contented with it. He has search countries which he can share his
blessings with, but he had searched his love for the Filipino people through Gawad
Kalinga. He sold his cars and built homes for the Filipinos. He also helped some
farmers here. His business is natural and organic beauty products. He elaborated the
difference between pleasure and happiness. The next entrepreneur awardee was
Raymond Choachuy. According to him professional manner ensure the quality of a
product or service. So in every business, it should have standards. Next one was
Timothy Joel Sarvida founder of El Buono Pizza. He is a singer for six months. He had
been to Indonesia and Korea. His pizza was 65” wide. He said that an entrepreneur
must start with his wildest idea because it makes an entrepreneur unique. Next awardee
was Bam Aquino and Mark Ruiz, founder of Hapinoy. Their passion is to help micro-
entrepreneurs. The concept of their business are the micro-financing institutions
wherein the capital is five thousand only, second was the training is being upgraded, the
appearance of the store at the same time, and lastly, they buy products wholesale so
that they can get it for a low price.
One of the audiences shared a principles regarding in what to remember in every
business. She said that you must be in love in your business, you think about it every
day. When it comes to secrets, one of the entrepreneur shared that you must start with
a good idea. Always go out with your comfort zone. You must don’t quit. Always choose
good and love the country. They added that the best capital is ourselves. Just like what
Jason Mraz say in one of his song’s “we win some and we learn some”, there is no such
thing as losing.
The next event was Bro. Bo Sanchez’s inspirational message. According to him,
the true wealth is to love others. He’s one of the speakers who inspired me the most.
According to him, in putting up a business we must first know our core gift and the
purpose.
