Chapter 1 – Introduction

C hapte r 1 – Introd uctio n

Welcome to the world of AOpen Video Station VX2000 Series. With this multimedia
product, you can use it as a convenient tool for multiple purposes including video
conferencing, video editing, class presentation, or even entertainment. The stand
alone design and Plug&Play (USB2.0) implementation simplify the tedious
installation process.

1 .1 – Key Fea tures

n Hardware MPEG2 Chipset: Cirrus Logic CS92288


n Receive TV broadcasts: 100+ channel cable/antenna-ready TV tuner
n TV audio decoding: BTSC for USA, EIA -J for Japan, A2&NICAM for PAL system.
n External inputs for video capture: AV and S-video inputs for external video
resources like cameras and VCRs.
n 1394 digital video input: 1394 input for high quality video source like DV
camcorder. (need optional DV daughter board included)
n Wireless remote control included: Channels up/down, Volume up/down.
n Full motion video capture
n Still frame video capture
n External interface: 75 ohm IEC coaxial input (cable TV), composite (RCA) input,
S-Video (SVHS) input, audio input, and line audio output

2 .1 – VX 20 00 Series In terfa ce Overview

PWR/RDY LED - Red light on when stand-by, green light on when ready, light out
when power off.
REC/PLAY LED - Blue light on when recording/playing, light out when stop.
IR - IR receiver for remote controller.
1394 - DV input connect to i-link port on camcorder.
L-in - Audio in for left channel.
R-in - Audio in for right channel.
CVBS-in - Composite video input.
SVideo-in - S-Video input.
USB2.0 - Support USB2.0 up to 15M bitrate and USB1.1 up to 4M bitrate.
Cable/Antenna - Cable or Antenna TV input.
Power - 5V DC power input.
L-out - Audio out for left channel. (Optional only for some model)
R-out - Audio out for right channel. (Optional only for some model)
CVBS-out - Composite video output. (Optional only for some model)

2 .4 – Ha rd wa re Insta lla t ion

Note: 1. Connect either the composite or the S-Video cable to the VX2000 (never
both) to avoid interference.
Note: 2. External video sources you can connect to the VX2000 include a VCR,
VCD/DVD player, or camcorder.

1. Use an AV/S video/1394 cable to connect an external audio/video


source to the VX2000.
2. For TV input, plug the TV antenna cable into the VX2000.
3. Connect the power adapter cable to the VX2000 and a grounded AC
wall outlet; connect the USB cable to the appropriate connectors on
the VX2000 and your PC.
4. Press the power switch on the VX2000.
5. If the “Found New Hardware” dialog box appears, click Cancel.
6. Install the included software and reboot your PC system if required.

Note: 1. Before installing the software, please make sure that you have connected
the VX2000 to your PC or notebook by way of the USB cable.
Note: 2. Make sure the USB2.0 driver for your motherboard has been installed. If
you're not sure, please check with your motherboard vendor.

1. Start Windows and insert the VX2000 Installation CD into the CD-ROM
drive.
2. When VX2000 Installation Wizard appears, please click the
Software button to continue.

3. Click Next on the Welcome dialog box.

4. Read the License Agreement, then choose I accept the terms of the
license agreement if you agree with the terms. Finally click Next to
continue.
5. Enter your name in the User Information dialog box, then click Next
to continue.
6. If required, change the destination folder in the Choose Destination
Location dialog box, then click Next to continue.

7. Select your country or region, and click Next to continue.


8. If required, you can change the program folder in the Select Program
Folder dialog box. Then click Next to continue.
9. Click Install on the Ready to Install the Program dialog to begin
installation.

10. When the installation has been completed, the Setup Options dialog
box will appear. If you do not want to read the Readme file or go
through the online registering procedure, deselect the appropriate
options. Click Next to start the driver installation.
11. The Cirrus Logic USB-DVR2 Driver Setup dialog box will now
appear; please wait for the driver setup to be completed.

12. Click Finish when the InstallShield Wizard Complete dialog box
appears.
