How to tell whether the
Holy Ghost is present among us?
Lets start off with a simple understanding of what the Holy Ghost is in Acts
5; when Ananias & Sapphira kept part of the price received from the land in
secret, yet laid it before the apostles feet as the full amount sold.
3
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost
(2 Peter 1:21, Acts 5:32), and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4
Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own
power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men,
but unto God. (1 Samuel 2:25)
5
And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came
on all them that heard these things. (Genesis 2:7, Job 33:4)
Next, concerning the baptism Peter said Repent, and be baptized … in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift
of the Holy Ghost. The question now is how do you receive the gift of the
Holy Ghost.
Lets take a look at Acts 19
1
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the
upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, (obedient servants of God)
2
He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said
unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3
And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's
baptism.
4
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the
people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ
Jesus.
5
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6
And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they
spake with tongues, and prophesied.
What tongues did these disciples speak in? Let’s go back to the Day of
Pentecost to see what tongues the men were speaking in Acts 2?
Once we obtain the Holy Spirit and remain in obedience to God’s word until the coming
of our Lord Jesus or unto death, are we able to have access to the tree of life
(Gen. 3:22 and Rev. 22:14).
How to tell whether the
Holy Ghost is present among us?
1
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one
place.
2
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled
all the house where they were sitting. (Exodus 3:2)
3
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of
them.
4
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as
the Spirit gave them utterance. (I Corinthians 14:4-6,14-17,27-33)
5
And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under
heaven.
6
Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded,
because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7
And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all
these which speak Galilaeans?
8
And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
9
Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea,
and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10
Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and
strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11
Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of
God.
12
And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth
this?
So when all men heard the word of God spoken in their own language thats
what the scripture meant by speaking in tongues. However, many of us
today believe you receive the Holy Ghost by ”speaking in tongues” which
are murmurings, dancing, running, jumping, or falling out. Nowhere in the
bible can you read where any of the prophets, apostles, or even Jesus Christ
did such things.
Once we obtain the Holy Spirit and remain in obedience to God’s word until the coming
of our Lord Jesus or unto death, are we able to have access to the tree of life
(Gen. 3:22 and Rev. 22:14).

1 Corinthians 10:9-10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured…
Jude 1:12-18 walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling
words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
Philippians 2:12-18 work out your own salvation with fear and trembling…
Acts 20:22-28 the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God…
Exodus 31:3 filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding
Acts 6:1-10 honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom… resist the wisdom
and the spirit by which he spake
2 Corinthians 6:3-18 Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed
Here’s the conclusion of what is the Holy Spirit.
Job 32:7-9 … the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.
Isaiah 11:2-3 (the Holy Spirit is God’s wisdom and understanding of his word)
2
And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
3
And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not
judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
4
But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of
the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of
his lips shall he slay the wicked.
Daniel 7:22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of the
most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
1 Corinthians 2:10-16 Now we have received, not the spirit of the
world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the
things that are freely given to us of God.
Keep in mind that the true body of Christ is on one accord in truth and spirit
(Romans 15:4-6, 2 Corinthians 4:13-15, Philippians 2:1-5). As servants of
the Most High God, Jesus Christ we have faith in keeping all God's
