GLOSSARY:

1. MOMENTOUS – (ADJ.) very important because of having an effect on future events;


2. HASTEN – (V.) to go somewhere in a hurry;
3. PATCHY – (ADJ.) happening or existing in some places but not in other places;
4. MANIFOLD – (ADJ.) of many different kinds:
5. VOW – (V.) to make a serious promise;
6. BLOODSHED – (N.) a situation in which people are killed or injured, especially during fighting;
7. SUCCESSION – (N.) he process by which one person comes after another as a king, queen, or leader;
8. TO CHERISH - (V.) to look after someone or something because you love them very much;
9. SHIELD – (n.) A broad piece of metal or another suitable material, held by straps or a handle
attached on one side, used as a protection against blows or missiles;
10. TO BESET – (v.) (of a problem or difficulty) trouble or threaten persistently;
11. REIGN – (n.) the period during which a sovereign (king, queen, etc.) rules;
12. TO DISGRACE – (v.) to bring shame or discredit on (someone or something);
13. TO BASTARDIZE – (v.) to declare someone illegitimate;
14. PERIL – (n.) serious and immediate danger;
15. TO VINDICATE – (v.) to clear someone of blame and suspicion;
16. EXULTATION – (n.) great pleasure and excitement,
17. LOFTY – a lofty building or structure is very tall;
18. TO HONE – (v.) to sharpen a blade; to perfect or refine something over a period of time;
19. TREASON – (n.) he crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign
or overthrow the government.;
20. HERESY – (n.) belief or opinion contrary to orthodox religious (especially Christian) doctrine;
21. TO STEER – (v.) (of a person) guide or control the movement of;
22. TO STIR – (ph.v.) to move or cause something to move slightly;
23. STEADILY – (adv.) in regular and even manner; continuously and without change
24. HARBOUR – (n.) an area of water near the land where it is safe for boats to stay. A port is a harbour
where passengers and goods can be taken on and off;
