1. Safety Precautions:
Improper handing or care may damage the monitor. Please read the
following warnings carefully before installing the XP17 flat panel
display.
Warnings:
(1) Avoid placing the monitor or other heavy objects on the power
cord.

(2) Do not expose the monitor to rain, excessive moisture or dust.

(3) Do not cover the ventilation holes. Always place the monitor in an
open position where there is adequate ventilation.

(4) For best viewing avoid placing the monitor against a bright back
ground where sunlight or other light sources may reflect off the
face of the monitor. Place the monitor just below eye level.
(5) Handle with care during transportation.
(6) The LCD screen is delicate and easily damaged. Do not touch or
scratch the screen with your fingers.

Cleaning The Monitor:


(1) Disconnect the power cord before cleaning.
(2) Use the Screen Cleaning cloth to gently remove dust from the
screen.
(3) Apply a small quantity of alcohol to a soft cloth and wipe gently.
Do not use any other chemicals to clean the monitor.

Lit Pixels:
A lit pixel is defined as a single dot on the screen that is permanently
bright during operation. Such pixels do not effect the operation of the
LCD monitor and are no cause for concern. Lit pixels are the result of
the panel manufacturing procedure and are an inherent property of
LCD panels.

2. Introduction:
Thank you for purchasing the shuttle XP17 Flat Panel Display.
Before setting up and using the XP17, please read this manual
carefully, noting installation instructions and safety information.

Features:

1,280 x 1,024 (SXGA) display resolution.


31.5KHz to 80KHz horizontal scan and 56.3Hz to 75Hz vertical
scan.
Monitor preference settings and a complete spectrum of user adjust-
ments.
Tough, AG(Anti-Glare) tempered glass (>Moh’s Scale of Hardness 8)
facia.
Compact, sleek design matching the XPC's industrial design stan-
dards.

VESA DPMS power management compliant.


Three viewing angles: 30º / 45º / 60º adjustable stand.
Portrait view: 90º swivel stand.
VESA compliant wall mount support.

Caution:
Don’t set the back adjustible stand to less than 30º.

3. Installation:
(1) Turn off the PC and unplug the power cord.
(2) Using the supplied VGA (analog) or DVI (digital) cable, connect
one end to the PC VGA/DVI port and the other to the display’s
input ports. Tighten the thumbscrews.
(3) Plug in the 12V DC power jack from the supplied power adapter to
the 12V DC input socket on the Flat Panel Display.
(4) Turn on the flat panel display.
(5) Adjust the display preferences as required. See Chapter 6, OSD
menu for more information)

Caution:
Only use the supplied power adapter with this flat panel dis-
play. Using any other power adapter may damage the unit
and will invalidate the warranty.

4. I/O Ports:
12V DC in: Standardized DC input socket for supplying power to the
flat panel display.

D-Sub Input: Analog VGA input port.

DVI Input: Digital DVI input port.

Caution:
1. Connecting the DVI and the D-Sub cables at the same time will
result in the monitor running in analog mode.
2. To swap from Analog to Digital mode; Power down the PC. Discon-
nect the D-Sub cable and attach the DVI cable. Power on the PC .

5. Display Key Definition:

6.OSD Menu:

On-Screen Display Controls:

Icon Name Function Description


Auto Setup Automatically adjusts the display setup.
Press the key then use the + and - keys
to switch between yes and no. Press the
key to accept your selection.

Brightness Adjusts the brightness of the display. Press


the key then using + - keys darken or
lighten the background. Press the key
to return to the main menu.

Contrast Adjust the displays contrast level. Press


the key then using the + - keys in-
crease / decrease the contrast level. Press
the key to return to the main menu.

Language Language selection. Press the key


then using the + - keys to select the
desired OSD langage. Press the key to
return to the main menu.

H-V Position Shift the image on the screen horizontally /


vertically. Press the key then using the
+ - keys adjust the image on the screen
horizontally and vertically. Press the
key to return to the main menu.

Image Adjust Press the key then using the + - keys


scroll to the mode you wish to adjust,
Press the select key to start adjusting that
mode. Then press again.

Color Temp. Press the key then using the + - keys


select either 6500K / 9300K / User Mode.
Press the key to return to the previous
6 menu.
Phase adjust Press the key then using the + - keys
adjust the phase value of the image. Press
the key to return to the previous menu.

Clock adjust Press the key then using the + - keys


adjust the clock value of the image. Press
the key to return to the previous menu.

Sharpness Press the key then using the + - keys


adjust the sharpness of the image. Press
the key to return to the previous menu.

Information Scroll over this item to view Model No. H/V


Frequency and Resolution information.

Reset Select this item to revert to default (factory)


settings. Press the key to select this
item, then using the + - keys, select “yes”
or “No” followed by to execute.

Input select Press the key then using the + - keys

User Timing Mode Setup:


The default display frequency settings are displayed in the table above.
These settings have been optimized to provide the best display image
for a set resolution. You do not need to tamper with these settings. For
optimal adjustments to these settings, the user is recommended to run
the Auto setup feature in a Window's "Full Screen" environment.

8. Power Management:
This display is equipped with power management control to automati-
cally reduce the power consumption when the monitor is not in use.
The power managment feature has the following 4 modes:

State Hor. Sync Vert. Sync Power Consumption LCD Light

Standby OFF ON <5 Watts Amber

Suspend ON OFF <5 Watts Amber

OFF OFF OFF <3 Watts OFF

Data Display Channel (DDC):


To make installation easy, this monitor supports Plug and Play if your
PC supports DDC protocol. DDC is a communication protocol
through which the monitor can automatically communicate and inform
the host system (PC) about its capabilities, for example, supported
resolution and frequency settings. This display supports DDC1 and
DDC2 standards.

10. Easy Wall Mount:
Step 1:
Slide a screwdriver into the
slot on the back cover.
Twist gently to loosen.

Step 2:
Remove the back cover.

Step 3:
Using a screwdriver, remove
the exposed screws.

Step 4:
Remove the protective cover.

Step 5:
Unfasten the four hinge
screws.

Step 6:
Remove the hinge.

Step 7:
Attach the wall mount
bracket to the back of LCD
monitor.

NOTE: This display can be mounted on a wall using a VESA


compatible 100mm x 100mm arm/or wall bracket. See your
local authorized Shuttle dealer for information on where to
purchase such brackets.

Step 8: Installating a
VESA bracket.

sure the attachment is
firm and secure.

wall mounting demonstration is provided for users information only.
Please read the instructions that come with your mounting bracket
before installing any mounting bracket to the display unit.
