Professional Development Plan for Teachers

Name: Maitha Ali Alblooshi MST: Ms. Annum MCT: Ms. Antoinette
School: New World American Private School Semester Fall 201810 Date: 7-10-2018
Rationale/Reflection of previous practice: Insert your paragraph
Your Professional Learning Goals requirement is to write in full detail what your strategies are
going to be in the classroom.
 During last semester, my MCT and MST commented on my teaching strategies that I needed to work on to
improve it such as I should implement differentiation at the activities; they asked me to work on two
different areas. The fist area of development was, creating more challenging activities which was the basic
thing that I needed to work on the most as I mentioned, because some students (high level) they finish the
activity early and then they misbehave because they have nothing to do, so it is basically my mistake for
example I should give them an activity such as flash card that includes two sides of activities if they finish
the first activity they can flip the activity and complete the other one too in this case they will be setting in
their place trying to finish the challenge activity. The second area of development that I have to work on
classroom management that after reading others point of view and according to some theories the children
imitate the positive behavior through watching others and imitate their behavior, so that is why I worked
very hard on developing these two areas because one area effect the other area too because they are related
such as differentiation of the activities if I did it right I will develop my classroom management skills. Thus,
I started reading about these two areas and get some ideas that would improve my teaching skills. And I put
several teaching strategies that I will implement this semester in TP which is: cooperative learning, inquiry
based learning, differentiation and visualization strategies. for example cooperative and inquiry based

learning were mentioned at Vygotsky theory ‘’ Vygotsky states cognitive development stems from social
interactions from guided learning within the zone of proximal development as children and their partner's co-
construct knowledge’’ (McLeod, 2018). These two strategies I chose them for cognitive development but as
a behaviour teaching strategy I chose visualisation strategy as Albert Bandura theory consist that ‘’Children
pay attention to some of these people (models) and encode their behaviour. At a later time they may imitate
(i.e., copy) the behaviour they have observed’’ (McLeod, 2018).
