Microeconomics IA Feedback Guide

This document provides assessment criteria and descriptors to evaluate student commentaries on economics articles. It includes six criteria: A) use of diagrams; B) use of terminology; C) application of economic concepts; D) analysis of economic theories; E) evaluation and reasoning; and F) meeting rubric requirements. Each criterion has descriptors to define performance levels from 0 to 3 or 4, with higher levels demonstrating greater skill. The rubric will be used to assess portfolios containing three commentaries that meet requirements for length, topic, source, date, and inclusion of cover sheets.

Criterion C: Application. This criterion assesses the extent to which the student recognizes, understands and applies

theories and/or concepts in the context of the article. AO2

Criterion E: Evaluation. This criterion assesses the extent to which the student synthesizes his/her analysis in order to make
judgments that are supported by reasoned arguments. AO3

1 Judgments are made that are unsupported, or
supported, by incorrect reasoning.
2 Judgments are made that are supported by
limited reasoning.
3 Judgments are made that are supported by

effective and balanced reasoning.
