Grain Moisture Testing Equipment

The Brown-Duvel Moisture Tester uses distillation to determine the moisture content of grains in 20-30 minutes. It mixes mineral oil with 100 grams of grain, heats it to "cook off" the moisture, and collects it in a graduated cylinder to read the moisture level. It is suitable for high moisture or frozen grains. Dimensions are 6” x 13” x 22 1⁄2” and it runs on 110V, 60Hz. The Koster Crop Tester determines moisture and dry matter content in crops like hay, silage and grains. It uses controlled heat in a small drying unit with a screen container and scale to dry a sample in 15-85 minutes, depending on the

BROWN-DUVEL MOISTURE TESTER

The Brown-Duvel Moisture Tester, manufactured by
Seedburo, uses the distillation principal to determine
moisture in grains in approximately 20-30 minutes. It was
originally developed by the USDA and has been cali-
brated against the official air oven method.

Mineral grade oil is mixed with approximately 100 grams

of grain and the moisture is “cooked” off by heating the oil.
The moisture is collected in a graduated cylinder and the
moisture level is read from the cylinder. The Brown-Duvel
is ideal for use with high moisture or frozen grains. The
Brown-Duvel is made of stainless steel and comes
complete with all necessary accessories, with the excep-
tion of the contact thermometer which must be ordered
separately. Dimensions for a single compartment unit
assembled are: 6” L x 13” W x 22 ½” H. 110V, 60Hz, 1
Phase. Ship wt. 14 lbs.
