A Feasibility Study on Operating Days in
KIGS - II
OBJECTIVE:
To extend the feasibility study to other stakeholders of the college like
students, lecturers and administrative staffs to find the interest level and
willingness among them to implement the operation days as intended by the
management.
INTRODUCTION
This survey was conducted due to the recommendation given by the research
and development department due to the poor response received from the
parents during last survey. This survey was conducted during the first week of
August (during examination study week) inside Kolej IGS and data’s were
collected from various stakeholders such as Students, Lecturers and
administrative staffs. A total 90 questioner were collected by the R & D staff
members by personally contacting each stakeholder.
Compare to last survey, the data collection is more but, we also include the
previous data to widen the stakeholders segment because we feel parents also
an important stakeholder of the college and their interest must be complied
along with the other stakeholders. So this report consist, opinions of Parents,
administration staffs, lecturers and students and the findings were evaluated in
both quantitative and qualitatively.
We also have some constrains in collecting feedback because many student
were not turned up to college due to examination study week, but we were able
to collect samples from 90% of the staffs and lecturers to prepare this report.
All assumptions were made based on the facts given by various stakeholders to
conclude the answer for the question we asked in survey. The assumptions
were made with our best efforts to bring an accurate result to help the
management to make a right decision for effective college operations.

FINDINGS
PARENTS
We manage to collect only nineteen (19) feedback forms from the parents
during the parents and teachers meeting. Out of nineteen feedback forms
thirteen respondents answered “ YES” and only six respondents answered “ NO”.
So totally 68% of the respondents were agreed the college should run their
academic and administration operations on Friday and 32% were not agreed
due to various reasons like:
1. Many family occasions will happen during Fridays
2. Need time to do assignment works, so we need a break in academic
days
3. Need to relax and
4. Not convenient due to Friday prayers

The response from administrative staffs and Lecturers were good, we manage
to collect 52 feedback forms, approximate 80% of staffs and lecturers are
responded for this survey. Out of 52 respondent forty four (44) were answered
“YES” and only eight (8) members were answered “NO”. This shows that eighty
five (85%) percent of staffs and lecturers supports to run the operation from
Monday to Friday and academic from Monday to Saturday and fifteen (15%)
percentage of staffs and lecturers were not supporting the operations as said
above due to various reasons like:
1. Some administrative and lecturers are working couples who are working
in different government institutions and other organization, so if it is on
Friday it is very difficult for them to be with their family.
2. Difficult for students and other government agencies, if the
administration is not operating on Saturday and at the same time the
academic operates during Saturday.
3. Friday is culturally a busy day, most of the marriages and other functions
happen on Friday, so it is difficult for the staffs and lecturers to attend on
Friday.

STUDENTS
The responses from students were not good due to examination week less
number of students came to college, but we manage to collect 38 feedback
forms. Out of 38 respondent twenty six (26) were answered “YES” and twelve
(12) members were answered “NO”. This shows that sixty eight (68%) percent
of students supports to run the operation from Monday to Friday and academic
from Monday to Saturday and fifteen (32%) percentage of students were not
willing to come to college due to various reasons like:
1. Most of the functions happen on Friday and they wan t to attend.
2. Since Friday is a prayer day and very long break time around the vincity
of the college, no shops available it is difficult for them to be inside for
long time.
3. Most of the students depend on their parents for transport so they cannot
go home and come back after the break for prayer.
4. Some students says it is difficult for their parents to deal with college
administration if it is not available during Saturday because Saturday is
government working day and parents might willing to come to colleg e
during their break time.

CONCLUSION
After receiving the feedback from the various stakeholders, the majority of the
respondents were willing to support the management decision to run college
operations as intended, but looking only the positive side of this study and
implementing the decision is not idle. We need to look into the reason given for
“NO” too.., some are very valid reasons like most of the Fridays have functions,
prayer time difficulty for the students to be at college without any shops open,
transport difficulties, working couples needs work life balance and parents
have difficulties to deal with admin if they are not available on Saturday s.

Out of 109 samples seventy six (76%) percentage of the stakeholders are
supporting and only twenty four (24) were not supporting due to the above
reasons, so it is management perspective how to take decision upon this matter,
but we are have some recommendations as below:
RECOMMENDATION
After evaluating all the facts given as feedback by the various stakeholders, we
like to give our recommendations to the management as below:
1. Both academic and administration can run from Monday to Saturday
simultaneously.
2. Academic classes can conduct afternoon session only on Friday (2:00pm
to 10:00pm) and
3. Administration can schedule only their front line staffs who are dealing
with the parents on Fridays and can give them a day off on Saturday
(only for staffs working on Fridays).
