Students Bases of Pursuing SHS Track:
Its Consiquence to Pre-College Plan.
Introduction:
The kindergarten Act of 2012. And the enhanced basic education
Act of 2013, both elementary and high school system in the Philippines have
undergone an ambitions overhaul in recent year. In 2011, the historic
implementation of shifting from 10 Years basic education curriculum to the kinder
to 12 program (K to 12) in phases.
The added two years senior high track aims to equip you with knowledge and
skills that will help you prepare better for your chosen path be it high education,
employment, or entrepreneurship. Senior high school (SHS) is the last two years
of the K to 12 program that includes grade 11 and 12.
Young students have diverse dreams and interest in life. “There is a will, there is
a way.” In choosing a career, suitability to the interest of the students is given
importance. Students must know on what degree to pursue in college. One that
interest them and must also fit their abilities so that it will not be hard for them to
choose the right career path. Being adolescent can be extremely lonely.it is not
unusual to have a feeling that there is no one turn to when problems come arise
this is the stage where major decisions and deep concerns affect the courses of
their lives.
Most adolescents are pressured to perform and succeed. Which experience
severe stress in meeting these expectations (Psychology.com,2017). Senior high
school students need a lot of professional advice especially when it comes in
choosing their careers. It is in this period, where students are advised to prepare
for their future worthwhile occupations. Choosing the perfect career that will fit is
one of the most important and crucial decision that every person has to make,
this can be one of the measures whether an individual will be successful in the
future or not.
At this stage, self-realization, role try-outs, occupational explorations in schools,
and finding the first job is tentative step. 2 it in this stage when teenager needs
guidance in the proper selection of their desired career. Where, they will arrive at
the right decision considering their innate capacities, educational privilege offered
to the students and other resources that society makes available for them to be
more efficient and effective (DepEd,2017).
General and Specific Objective:
The struggles of teenagers of the modern times,Their bases of pursuing SHS
Track and Its consequence to Pre-college plan. Therefore, it is with great
enthusiasm that the researchers would like to investigate on the perspective of
students on the following case.
Specifically, the research would like to seek answers on the following questions.
A. What are the bases/factors of Students choice on their current/Present
SHS Track?
B. What are the common plan of Students on their college course?
C. How are the students affected by their college plan basing from their SHS
Track?
They must consider their interest, natural skills, abilities, aims and reward. This
study will help them to develop their decision-making. The students career
succees can best attained if proper guidance was given in choosing the right
course in college, suited to student personality, ability, and intellect.
METHODOLOGY
Research Design:
order to keep up with other countries in terms of knowledge
and competence in different fields, the Philippines has adopted the K to 12 learning
program, which has been the standard education system in other countries for
quite some time now. The said program aims to enhance the quality of learning of
students by adding 2 years on secondary education level. The additional 2 years
is called senior high school (SHS), in which students will be allowed to choose a
particular track that is related to the field or profession that they wish to pursue in
the future. Choosing a track is critical for making a student highly proficient in the
field where his or her chosen track is related to, especially if the student wishes to
work immediately after graduating from SHS. As most educators say, a mismatch
in the track and the student’s interests, personality and passion may lead to a
poorly knowledgeable graduate who will find it hard to compete in the job market
or keep up with other students when he or she goes to college.

Population and Locale:
The research participants of the study were Grade 11 and
12 senior high school students enrolled during the school year 2018 – 2019. 5 of
them are Male while 5 Female.
Data Gathering Procedure:
- The researcher asked for permission to principal to
conduct one on one interview to senior high school
student. And all the information that researcher
have was analyzed and all the ff. questions are
answered by researcher very well.
