Cautions For Safety

Fluid and pressure must be discharged from pipes and valves before dismantling to prevent accidents and injuries from trapped pressure. Personal protective equipment should always be worn and valves must be properly supported during dismantling and installation. Valves and pipes should be marked to ensure proper reinstallation by aligning matchmakers to their original positions.

1 Cautions for Safety

Fluid from the pipes should be discharged and line pressure to

be reduced to atmospheric level as the trapped pressure of fluid is
very dangerous and may cause accidents resulting in personal injury.
During the case of installation for pipe end service, fluid might be
enclosed between the valve and the black flange. Thus it is
recommended to open the valve and discharge the fluid from the
pipe before removing the blank flange.

As for gate valves, these valves are required to dismantle from

piping with valve remain in the intermediate position. Then, follow
by discharging fluid and trapped pressure within the fully closed
valve body. Take note that fluids such as toxic, flammable or
corrosive fluid are to be completely discharged from pipe and valve
interior. Operators must take protective measures against fluid
spouting and strictly no fire is allowed in the working area. Lastly,
keep off the valve lifting area to prevent personal injury caused by
unsecured valves.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) are to be worn at all times

such as goggles, gloves and working boots. Keep a secure footing for
valve dismantling and installation as well as piping and valves
should be properly supported if needed. Before dismantling valves
from the pipeline, mark the valve body and coupled pipe flanges
with their original position and reinstall the valve on pipes aligning
these matchmakers after assembly. Ensure to insert new gaskets
between the valve and flange for valve mounting.
