Student Writing Reflection Sheet

Assignment Title: Resume
Student Writing Goal: My writing goal is to score an 85% or higher on all my assignments. I want to be more of a
creative writer. I also want to include enough examples and fully explain the quotes I include in my writing.
Instructions:
1) Re-read the paper (and teacher feedback).
2) Complete this reflection sheet.
What was the purpose of this writing assignment?
The purpose of this writing assignment is to prepare me for a future job. Once I decide to apply for a job I
will not have to worry about my resume not being complete. I don’t think I will work anytime soon because I
want to focus on school but once I decide to I know I will be ready.
How did you perform in relation to the expectations of the writing rubric?
I missed some points on the assignment and after going over it I think it is because I spoke in first person a
couple of times. I also think that I could’ve added more community work that I have done and been more
descriptive of everything. Since this was my first resume I was unsure of what exactly was ok to add and I
should’ve asked the teacher for their advice.
What aspect of this piece did you do well? (give example/quotes to support claims)
One thing I did well on was that I gave sufficient examples of abilities that is have. For example I said,
“motivated starter”. When I have volunteered to do something I always do things before I am told to do them.
Overall, I feel like everything I put down truly reflects who I am and it will give the employer an honest
image of who I am.
Why have you/haven’t you chosen to revise this writing assignment?
I didn’t revise this resume before because I didn’t ask anyone to look over it. I now understand that it is
important to have someone revise it because there were many little errors that I could’ve avoided. I could
have scored a higher grade if I just asked.
What will you do better in your next writing assignment, and how will I do it?
First I am going to do all the research necessary to add good information into my writing. I will make sure to
ask at least two people to look over it. Also something that I feel like I mess up on sometimes is staying on
topic therefore that is something I also need to do differently.
To what degree of success did you achieve your previously stated goal(s)?
My goal was to score at least and 85% on my assignments. In this assignment I scored a 90% which did
exceed the minimum requirement. It did have little mistakes that I should have fixed. I know I could’ve
gotten a high grade if I would have revised it before turning it in but I did reach my goal.
