Teaching the ABC’s

A Kindergarten ebook by Grace Chaverini

Letter to the Teachers

-This lesson is targeted towards children between the ages
of 5-6.
-During the lesson the students will be able to understand
the different letter sounds and recite the alphabet in
correct order.
-This unit would be considered language development and
teaching early word recognition along with phonics. I
found this lesson very important to help build the
foundation of reading and writing for students.

-Step 1:Introducing the Letter

have them write down each letter and repeat it aloud to
practice each phonetic sound.
-Step 2:Association
This is the “show me” stage by having the students answer
various questions. For example, asking to point to a
specific letter or stating an animal or object and asking
what the first letter is.

Step 3:Recall
Practicing what the student has learned by asking them to
write a letter down without having to point it out on the
poster.
