COLLISION
All of the MC-4x10 family have Ethernet communications modules for connection to an Ethernet HUB for networking
multiple MC-4x10 nurse/staff stations on a site together to exchange information between stations (and/or central PC
terminal) and for audio networking (using VoIP technology). Such information can be for ward/room/bed swing operations
or to share a single paging base, other 3rd party messaging system and/or PC based system such as Austco’s
SITE-MGMT System Management Terminal software for centralised alarm/call data logging, date & time stamped
reporting and centralised on-site programming.
Networking is via a single 10BaseT Ethernet LAN using a standard commercially available IEEE802.3 Ethernet HUB with
an adequate number of ports for the number of MC-4x10/ETH nurse/staff stations, gateway (CM-ETHGW) and PC to be
connected. The maximum size of the network in terms of the number of MC-4x10/ETH stations that can be networked
and served by one CM-ETHGW depends on site specific factors such as the rate of alarms/calls, audio or non-audio and
the extent to which ward swinging between stations is being used. As a guide it is recommended that network sizes be
kept to below 32 stations.
“Network Paging”
The Ethernet Network Gateway (CM-ETHGW) provides for easy connection of devices such as a paging base/transmitter
or 3rd party telephone messaging system for sharing by all stations on a networked MC-4x10 Nurse/Staff Call System.
An alternative proprietary RS485 network and RS485 Network Gateway (CM-485GW) is available for networking on small
sites of less than six MC-4x10 stations and that have low call rates.
