This article describes modifying the Parrot AR Drone quadcopter by replacing its internal WiFi antenna with an external antenna to improve its WiFi range and connectivity. The stock internal antenna is replaced by soldering wires to the onboard WiFi chip and running them out through a small hole drilled in the drone's body to an external rubber duck antenna mounted on the top. This simple mod extends the drone's controllable range up to 300 meters compared to the stock 100 meters range.
