C. Installation of battens
a) The width of Roof Tiles is 370mm. Before setting up the
Battens, consider the length of Rafter as the roof tile’s size.
b) If the length of rafter certainly match a full course of roof
tiles before installation of battens, measure and mark
365mm from the ridge on the last full rafter at the end of the
building. Then use a string and mark the position of the rest
battens.
c) If the length of rafter does not match a full course of roof
tiles before installation of battens, the tile of top course in
front the ridge have to be cut and bent which is less than
365mm of the length of tile in general. Then measure up
345mm from the outside of fascia in order to set up the
bottom batten. And set up the rest of battens to each
370mm.
d) Measure the batten space from the front of a batten to
the front of another batten as you go up the roof.

D. Installation of roof tiles
a) Layout of Roof Tiles
Tiles can be laid either left over right or right over left whatever looks good. Just the
overlapping part must cover the overlapping part of another tile.
Tiles should be laid with the laps facing away from a) prevailing winds, b) discharging rain
water pipes or valleys.
b) Set-up part of Hip
Please note that take a measurement for all part of Hip on the roof. And the tiles are
normally marked, cut, bent and stacked on the ground.
b-1) A basic measurement is taken from the last corrugation on the bottom corner of the last full tile to the hip board along the
front edge of the batten.
b-2) Measure and mark the required measurements taken from the roof to ensure the matching corrugation of the overlapping tile
to be cut on the tiles with chalk for Bending Line.
b-3) Add the height of the ridge board projection to the bending line measurement. Mark on the tiles with chalk, it is a cutting line.

c) Set-up part of Ridges
Measure the distance "A" from the last tile to the ridge board. Add 40mm to the measurement (turn-up allowance) and mark the tile
to be cut.
d) Set-up part of Valley
d-1) Open Valley
To installation the open valley, snap lines to desired opening. Working on one side
of the valley at a time, measure, cut and bend tiles starting at the bottom of the
valley and working up. Verify batten spacing along the valley to ensure accuracy.
d-2) Closed Valley
Find and establish the center of the valley by either snapping a line or following
existing center rib. After valley flashing has been fit and secured into the valley
area, start on one side of the valley by measuring, cutting, bending and installing
tiles as accurately as possible to create a clean straight line.
Next, measure, cut and bend tiles to fill in the other side of the valley. Make sure
these tiles meet the opposing side of the valley should fit as closely as possible
and the line between them should run straight up the valley.

E. Nailing
Begin to nail the tile after laying three courses. The correct position for nailing tiles is shown below. Tiles are secured by nailing
through the front downturned flange into the side of the batten.
Nails should be approximately 55mm to the side of the centre of the pan of the tile and close to the bottom of the downturned
flange.
This ensures good holding of the tile and ample penetration of the batten at the same time restricting nail penetration to a maximum
of two thicknesses.
A worker should stand on the installed tile being opposite to the fascia. Also if you have a nail-gun, you can work securely and
easily. Use 4 nail per tile as usual. Recommend to use 7 nails per tile when windy areas.

F. Finishing with accessories
a) Ridge/Hips Caps
Install Ridge/Hips caps along hips and ridges.
They are overlapped and fastened on both sides along ridges and hip boards with the same nails used for securing the tiles.
Lay the caps so that they overlap by 75mm (3”) to 100mm (4”). Adjust if necessary then drive nails in. Secure with a further two
nails on each side of the caps.
b) Barge covers
Before installation it is essential that the edge
of the end tile is turned up against the barge
batten. The barge covers are then tacked
temporarily in place working up the barge
board. The overlap should be 75mm (3”) to
100mm (4”). Sights along the barge board to
ensure that the barge covers are straight.
Adjust if necessary, then drive the nails home.
Note that the nails need to be near the bottom
edge of the barge cover to ensure that the
bottom edge is firmly positioned against the
barge board.
c) Side Flashing
Installation of side flashing against the wall, Tile
Side Flashing
refer to under picture. Nail the side flashing to
the wall ensuring that the flashing is hard
down and straight.
Rafter
d) Fascia Flashing (No rain-collection system)
Flashing is used along a fascia to cover the
build up at the first batten.
e) Gutter(Rain-collection system) & Without Gutter
