Analysis

Body mass index (BMI) is a key index for relating weight to height. It can be calculated by a
person's weight in kilograms (kg) divided by his or her height in meters squared (BMI = kg/m2).

Sample Calculation for Conversion from cm to m:


100cm=1m
∴185cm=185/100
=1.85m

Sample Calculation for Calculating BMI:


Weight= 48 kg
Height =1.85m
Using the formula: BMI= kg/m2
BMI =48/1.852
BMI =48/3.4225
BMI=14

Average BMI of Males:


Total no. of males=18
Using the formula: Average male BMI= Total BMI/Total no. of males

Average male BMI= ∑BMI/18


Average male BMI= 378.7/18
Average male BMI = 21.04kg/m2

Average BMI of Females:


Total no. of females = 18

Using the formula: Average female BMI= Total BMI/Total no. of females
Average female BMI= ∑BMI/18

Average female BMI=408.8/18

Average female BMI= 22.70kg/m2


Percentage of Males per BMI Category (Pie Chart):
Total no. of males= 18

 No. of underweight males=6

Using the formula: (No. of underweight males/total no. of males) ×100

Underweight males= (6/18) ×100= 33.3%

 No. of normal weight males=9

Using the formula: (No. of normal weight males/total no. of males) ×100

Normal weight males= (9/18) ×100= 50.0%

 No. of overweight males=3


Using the formula: (No. of overweight males/total no. of males) ×100

Overweight males= (3/18) ×100= 16.7%

 No. of obese class 1 males=0

Using the formula: (No. of obese class 1 males/total no. of males) ×100

Obese class 1 males= (0/18) ×100= 0%

 No. of obese class 2 males=0

Using the formula: (No. of obese class 2 males/total no. of males) ×100

Obese class 2 males= (0/18) ×100= 0%

 No. of obese class 3 males=0

Using the formula: (No. of obese class 3 males/total no. of males) ×100

Obese class 3 males= (0/18) ×100= 0%

Total no. of females= 18

Using the formula: (No. of underweight females /total no. of females) ×100

Underweight females = (6/18) ×100= 33.3%

Using the formula: (No. of overweight females /total no. of females) ×100

Overweight females = (5/18) ×100= 27.7%

Using the formula: (No. of obese class 1 females /total no. of females) ×100

Obese class 1 females= (0/18) ×100= 0%

 No. of obese class 2 females=1

Using the formula: (No. of obese class 2 females/total no. of females) ×100

Obese class 2 females= (1/18) ×100= 5.5%

 No. of obese class 3 females=0

Using the formula: (No. of obese class 3 females/total no. of females) ×100

Obese class 3 females= (0/18) ×100= 0%

Mode for Males:


The mode BMI for males was found to be 24.2 kg/m2.

Mode for Females:


The mode BMI for females was found to be 15.6 kg/m2.
