among Indian Political Leaders

ABSTRACT: With the proliferation of internet into masses, social media is emerging as a
potential way of communication. It provide direct channel to politicians for communicating,
connecting and engaging with public. The power of social media, especially Twitter and
Facebook has been proved by its successful application during recent US presidential elections
and Arabian countries’ revolts.
In India too, as the general election are about to knock at the door during early 2014, political
parties and leaders are trying to harness the power of social media. This paper critically examines
the recent happenings of Indian political world only on the microblogging site,. Twitter. Further it
discusses the twitter activities of Indian politicians against the politicians all over the world. For
this study, only the verified Twitter accounts were considered and the relevant figures are valid on
the date mentioned.
