2.3.1 Simple checking methods of the gas passage
First connect the pipelines, set the manual/mechanical shift switch into
the mechanical mode, press the O2 flush switch to inflate the foldable
bellow to its full, then quickly pull out the connecting pipeline from the
circle absorber and block it with hands. If the foldable bellow doesn’t go
down, the bellow and the connecting pipelines are ok and the problem
perhaps lies in the circle absorber. Then join the pipelines and connect
the inspiratory connector and the expiratory connector with one
pipeline. Connect the breathing bag, set the manual/mechanical shift
switch into the mechanical mode, press the O2 flush switch to inflate
the foldable bellow, and pinch the breathing bag with hand to make
the pressure gauge on the circle absorber point to 3Kpa and see the
pointer’s movements. If the pointer goes down quickly, the circle
absorber has some problem. If the pointer doesn’t move, then the
circle absorber is all right.
2.3.2 Outer gas passage malfunction and solutions:
Malfunction 1: foldable bellow goes down continually
Reasons: Probably as follows:
1) Foldable bellow is broken or aging;
2) The corrugated hose that connects bellow and circle absorber is
4
ACM600 Series Anesthesia Machines’ Service Manual
broken or aging;
3) Patient’s breathing circuit is broken or
aging;
Foldable Bellow
4) Respiratory valve in the circle absorber is broken or aging or
not well-installed;
5) Soda lime absorber of the circle absorber is broken or aging;
Solution: replacing the spare parts that are
broken or aging
Soda Lime Absorber
Malfunction 2: the foldable bellow goes down to certain place and stands
still
Reason: spill over valve’s pressure has
been adjusted lower
Solution: readjust it
Spill Valve
Note: the spill over valve can be moved with wrench: clockwise
rotation means pressure decrease and counterclockwise rotation
means pressure increase. Its standard setting is 0.2~0.3Kpa. After
adjustment, connect the gas passage, adjust the flowmeter to 5L, and
5
ACM600 Series Anesthesia Machines’ Service Manual
at this time if the pressure gauge on the circle absorber is 0.2~0.3Kpa,
then it is ok now.
Malfunction 3: While using the machine, the foldable bellow still inflates
or swells, though the flowmeter isn’t opened.
Reason: there is something wrong with the four-tube flowmeter or the O2
flush switch
Solutions: replace the four-tube
flowmeter or the O2 flush switch
Malfunction 4: the bellow cannot be
compressed or cannot be enough
compressed at inspiration;
Reason: 1. The connecting corrugated
hose falls off
2. Anesthesia ventilator’s problem
3. The connecting line of the
manual/mechanical shift switch is
broken
4. The below housing is broken or aging
Solution: 1. Reconnect the corrugated hose
2. Overhaul the anesthesia ventilator
6
ACM600 Series Anesthesia Machines’ Service Manual
3. Replace manual/mechanical shift switch’s connecting line
4. Replace bellow housing
Malfunction 5: the airway pressure is
too high at manual ventilation mode
Reason: APL valve’s pressure hasn’t
been adjusted correctly
Solution: readjust APL valve
Note: when necessary to adjust, remove the round lid on the top of
APL valve, and screw off the six-angle screw above with six-angle
wrench, and adjust the six-angle screw below with six-angle wrench.
The upper limit is 6Kpa.
Malfunction 6: though the work pressure of the machine is enough, the
foldable bellow cannot be inflated when pressing the O2 flush switch.
Reason: the pipelines inside the gas passage tank fall off or are broken.
Solution: reinstall or replace pipelines
Malfunction 7: LED display monitor‘s show value has big error
Reasons: Flow sensor’s wheel has dirt
7
ACM600 Series Anesthesia Machines’ Service Manual
Solutions: Clean the flow sensor
Malfunction 8: At the time of O2 flush, gas still goes through the
mechanical mode passageway when shifting to manual mode; vice versa.
Reasons: the inner film of the switch is aging or frayed
Solution: replace its inner film
Malfunction 9: From manual to
mechanical mode, the shift
switch returns slowly
Reasons: the switch’s inner
spring has lost its elasticity
Solutions: replace the switch
valve core

、813A Anesthesia Ventilators
812A、
Malfunction 1: There is no tidal volume
15
ACM600 Series Anesthesia Machines’ Service Manual
display on the LED window
Reason: The flow sensor’s probe or the main board is damaged.
Solution: Replace flow sensor’s probe or main board.
Malfunction 2: The board parameters do not appear when opening the
machine.
Reason: The fuse is burned out or power
module is damaged.
Solution: Replace the fuse or power
module.
Advert: Check the power module whether
it is damaged, multimeter can be used to
check whether the output voltage is
correct.
Malfunction 3: When turn on the machine, it is easy to hang (each
parameter can not be adjusted, and the LED digital tube and indicator
light are all bright);
Reason: There is something wrong with the main board.
Solution: Replace the main board.
Malfunction 4: The anesthesia ventilator can work normally, but the
16
ACM600 Series Anesthesia Machines’ Service Manual
parameters can’t be adjusted.
Reason: the connecting lines of the fore board become loose or aging or
damaged.
Solution: re-insert the surface line or replace
the surface film.
804 Fore Board
Malfunction 5: When the alarm appears,
there is only light but no alarm sound.
Reason: Scale the voltage of the buzzer. If there is voltage, then the
buzzer is damaged; if without voltage, then there is something wrong
with the main board.
Malfunction 6: The tidal volume can’t be adjusted or can’t be closed
tightly.
Reason: The tidal volume knob falls off.
Solution: Retighten the knob.
Malfunction 7: There is loud noise during
the machine’s working.
Reason: The expiration valve rubber sheet is
aging or distorted.
Solution: Replace the expiration valve
17
ACM600 Series Anesthesia Machines’ Service Manual
rubber sheet.
Malfunction 8: There is no driven gas output in the anesthesia ventilator.
Reason: We can use multimeter to check the electromagnetic valve, then
we will know whether the output voltage is normal; If the
electromagnetic valve is normal, then there must be something wrong
with the main board.
Solution: Replace the electromagnetic valve or main board.
Malfunction 9: It appears black on LCD
Screen (only ACM813A).
Reason: Inverter is not connected tightly or
damaged.
Solution: Re-insert the line or replace inverter.
Malfunction 10: There is nothing appears on the screen or no signal (only
ACM813A).
Reason: The signal wire of display control
board looses or the display control board is
damaged.
Solution: Retighten the signal wire or
18
ACM600 Series Anesthesia Machines’ Service Manual
replace display control board.
5.3 The parameters of Anesthesia Ventilators should be adjusted to
“ first choose, then adjust”.
5.3.1 The adjustment of panel parameters.
1) Irradiance line: It displays the change of airway pressure, the red light
on the right and left means low voltage with high-pressure alarm.
Low pressure alarm: Avoid breath circuit’s leakage.
High-pressure alarm: It can protect patents’ lung, and avoid the hurt
from high pressure.
2) The adjustments of I/E ratio and respiration rate.
Press the I/E ratio or respiration rate key on the panel, adjust by the
two symbols of“▲”.
3) Tidal volume: Adjust with the flow knob, and calculate by the weight
of patients’ “weight (kg)*(8-12)”.
* 4) Oxygen concentration: It can only appear but can’t be adjusted.
5) Silence for 2 minutes: silence time for alarm.
6) There is an “air entrance” on the back panel of the ventilator. Using the
Venturi theory, it inhales air through oxygen pressure, thus save the
oxygen.
5.3.2 The adjustment of Ventilators’ inner parameters
When the ventilator’s malfunctions are caused by circuit board, we can
19
ACM600 Series Anesthesia Machines’ Service Manual
solve these problems by replacing it. Then we should regulate and adjust
parameters of the new circuit board to ensure the status of Ventilator.
The corresponding parameters of ACM 813A ‘ respective rheostat
6201372 control board: *R3 adjusts the increase of airway pressure, i.e.
the adjustment of Ppeak.
*R4 is used to adjust the zero point of airway pressure
*R35 is used to adjust the oxygen supply failure alarm
S1: SESR, the segments 1, 2, 3 adjust the modulus of tidal volume.
Segment 4 adjusts the airway pressure waveform when it is on, and
adjusts its close when it is off.
Notice: Above with‘#’sign shouldn’t be adjust randomly, and above
with ‘*’sign need special instrument.
