ROUND PLACEMAT
SIZE
Approx. 38cm (15in) in diameter

MATERIALS
Rico Creative Cotton Print aran 3 x 50g balls
of Pastel-Pink Mix (shade 001), alternatively
Pastel-Green Mix (shade 002), Multicolor
(shade 003) or Red-Blue Mix (shade 004)
1 Rico crochet hook 4mm (UK 8 – US G/6)
1 Rico woven label No. 38005.002

TENSION
20 sts and 20 rnds to 10cm, 4in, measured over
rnds of dc using 4mm hook or the size required to
give correct tension.

PLACEMAT
Foundation rnd. Work 5 dc into a double loop
(magic ring) and join with sl-st to first dc to form
a ring.
Rnd 1. 1 ch (counts as 1st dc), 1 dc in same place
as last sl-st, 2 dc in each dc to end. 12 sts.
Cont with rnds in a continuous spiral.
Rnd 2. 2 dc in each dc to end. 24 sts.
Rnd 3. 1 dc in each dc to end.
Rnd 4. *1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from *
to end. 36 sts.
Rnd 5. 1 dc in each dc to end.
Rnd 6. *1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from *
to end. 54 sts.
Rnd 7 – 9. 1 dc in each dc to end.
Rnd 10. *1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc,
rep from * to end. 72 sts.
Rnd 11 – 12. 1 dc in each dc to end.
Rnd 13. *1 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from *
to end. 108 sts.
Rnd 14 – 19. 1 dc in each dc to end.
Rnd 20. *1 dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc,
rep from * to end. 144 sts.
Rnd 21 – 26. 1 dc in each dc to end.
Rnd 27. *1 dc in each of next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc,
rep from * to end. 180 sts.
Rnd 28 – 33. 1 dc in each dc to end.
Rnd 34. *1 dc in each of next 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc,
rep from * to end. 216 sts.
Rnd 35 – 37. 1 dc in each dc to end.
Rnd 38. 1 dc in each dc to end, join with sl-st to
first dc.
Fasten off.

TO MAKE UP
Lightly spray the place mat with water or cover
with a damp cloth, gently pull into shape and
leave to dry. Weave in all ends.
