Critique paper (puppy love by Francisco sionil Jose)
According to the blog site Psychology Today Puppy Love is (also known as
a crush, calf love or kitten love) Is an informal term for feelings of love, romance,
or infatuation, often felt by young people during their childhood and adolescence. It is named
for its resemblance to the adoring, worshipful affection that may be felt by a puppy. It may
also be able to describe short/long-term love interest . And also Friends from our childhood or
adolescence are special, no matter how much time has elapsed between visits. These
compelling connections are the result of shared roots during the formative years. Our
childhood friends and teenage sweethearts experienced with us all the wonderful, horrible,
boring, and embarrassing moments that helped to make us who we are today.
The short story is titled “Puppy Love” by Francisco Sionil Jose. The story is about
the first love of Jacobo Salcedo who came from a poor family and his first love is
Gina Garcia who came from very rich family at her brother is Lito Garcia who is
also like jacobo salcedo. Lito and Jacobo is like best friend because jacobo is
always at their house to play and to do the assignments every time they play
Gina wants to join too and one day while Lito is not around and Jacobo arrive to
their house he saw Gina reading book and holding an apple, Gina has a secret
place to read book and she invited jacobo to join her and while Gina is eating
the apple Jacobo wants to eat to but when gina feel like jacobo wants to eat he
fed her with her mouth it’s like they we’re kissing, that is the most memorable
scene that Jacobo and Gina don’t forget . a year passed Gina and her Family
moved in manila because there family business is bankrupt Jacobo didn’t say
goodbye to Gina because left without saying anything and when Gina left Jacobo
do his best to make her dreams and also for Gina he didn’t forget Gina , when
Jacobo moved in manila because of his work first thing come to his mind is to
find but he didn’t know where to start and he can’t do it because he was in work
but destined make the plan to see each other again but Gina didn’t recognize him
because of his looks now but Jacobo recognize her in one look but she look
different she is like “magdalena” and to make the story short Jacobo did
everything to Gina like buying her cloths but in one condition she will never go
out with other man only Jacobo and one day
jacobo has to go in other country for his work
and he has to left gina alone but when jacobo came back
from business in other country he receive a news that gina is in the jail because he cut
the private part
of his husband and jacobo wants to help her but she refuse it because she think that it is enough to help her and that is the time they talked about the past
The characters in the story is Gina Garcia and Jacobo Salcedo. They are very
related to the youths now because most the teenagers wants read novels, wattpads
and other things. And most of the teenagers have an ideal man in the future or to
have an gentleman husband or boyfriend and we want also to have happy ending or
and happy
family There are some story that I read before it was like puppy love but in different
status in life the book is “Dear
Tadhana” by blue maiden it is a tagalong story but they are some similar
scene that happened in the puppy love there is line that I always see in other
story “someday when I fall in love , I will be faithful to him just as I
expect to him to be faithful to me always”(5) the word the every
other lines because every girl wants to have some boy that will be faithful to them what ever happen in
the end they will never leave them alone and they will always help each other.
In the story “Puppy Love” the author succeed to send the message in the society and his
story is related in what is happening in the society and while the reading is reading it they
can related to the story because they can picture what is happening in the story or they
experience it. Maybe after reading the story they want to have a man like Jacobo because
he do everything to make her love once happy and her dreams comes true. “life is a series
of punches. It present a lot challenges, it present a lot of hardship but the people
that are able to that those punches and able to move forward are the ones that
really do have a lot of success and have a lot of joy in their life and have a lot
