This is the story of a murder of a beautiful actress in Bombay and how this single act of pointless
brutality destroys all who witnessed it. Inspired by a true life murder case, this devastating novel Audio Rights
centres around the lives of three young, beautiful, people of Bombay. Karan, our hero, is a young p Available
photographer who falls under the spell of the charismatic pianist Samar, who is himself the object of
unrequited love by the beautiful actress Zaira. The audio rights are handled by Alice Lutyens.
When Zaira is gunned down by Minister Prasad's dissolute son, the lives of all the protagonists
shatter and splinter forever. Karan's doomed love affair with Rhea, a manipulative married woman,
forms the backdrop to the bigger story of the hopeless fight against corruption in 90s India, a
country on the brink of huge change, and under the shadow of Aids.
Beautifully written, heartbreaking characters and full of passion, this is a wonderful novel.
First published in India in 2008, The Lost Flamingoes of Bombay will be published in October 2010.
