Green Antz Ecobrick

Green Antz Ecobrick uses plastic waste to create eco bricks that are 5-6 times stronger than typical hollow blocks and cheaper to produce. Bamboo can be used as reinforcement in concrete and has properties similar to steel reinforcement. Hempcrete is a bio-composite building material made from hemp hurds, lime, and other additives that provides insulation and moisture regulation without the brittleness of concrete.

Green Antz Ecobrick

As of now, the generation of plastic wastes is rapidly rising. As a means remedying the
problem, a construction company in Bulacan has developed an alternative means of making
construction bricks.

The eco bricks contains 50-100 plastics. Each are interlocking and are 5-6 times stronger than
typical hollow blocks. They are also easier to use and cheaper to produce.

Bamboo Reinforcements

The use of bamboo as reinforcement in Portland cement concrete has been studied. Bamboo
has been used as a construction material in certain areas for centuries, but its application as
reinforcement in concrete had received little attention until the Clemson Agricultural College study.

In general, techniques used in conventional reinforced concrete construction need not he

changed when bamboo is to be used for reinforcement.

Bamboo reinforced concrete design is similar to steel reinforcing design. Bamboo

reinforcement can be assumed to have the following mechanical properties:
Hempcrete

Hemplime is bio-composite material, a mixture of hemp hurds (shives) and lime (possibly
including natural hydraulic lime, sand, pozzolans) used as a material for construction and insulation.
It is marketed under names like Hempcrete, Canobiote, Canosmose, and Isochanvre. Hempcrete is
easier to work with than traditional lime mixes and acts as an insulator and moisture regulator. It lacks
the brittleness of concrete and consequently does not need expansion joints. The result is a
lightweight insulating material ideal for most climates as it combines insulation and thermal mass.
