LESSON PLAN IN BIOLOGY 1
2nd Quarter
I. Learning Objectives
At the end of the session, the students must be able describe the major features and
chemical events in phosynthesis and respiration.
II. Subject Matter
A. Topic: Photosynthesis
B. References: Biology 1
Learner’s Materaial
pp. 87-89
C. Materials
Manila paper, pentel pen, video clips, power point presentation,
illustration,
III. Learning Taks
A. Recall and Motivation
1. Review on the concept of Cell energy.
2. Show n picture below , answer the questions the follows.
Seed - Young plant - Full grown tree
Guide Questions:
1. Estimate how much you think a seed weights.
2. Estimate how much you think a full-sized tree weights.
3. Estimate the differences in mass between a seed and a tree.
4. Where do you think the mass of the tree comes from?
B. Lesson Proper
1. Group the class into two.
2. Give Group 1 a handouts on Photosynthesisand Respiration..
3. Show the group two a video clips on Photosynthesis and Respiration.
4. Let them answer the questions.
Guide Questions:
4.1. How do plant and animals obtaion energy?
4.2. In what organelle does the process of photosynthesis occur?
4.3. In what organelle does the process of respiration occur?
4.4. In what type of cell do photosynthesis and respiration take place? For each process
describe if it is: Plant, Animal, Both, Neither.
4. 5. Why are animal cells not capable of carrying photosynthesis?
4.6. How do the processes differ?
4.7. Photosynthesis and respiration can be summarized into equation. Write the equation
and how do they relate to one another.
4.8. Analyze why leaves are of different colors in plants.
4.9. Identify the plant parts involved in photosynthesis.
4.10. Describe how glusose is broken down during photosynthesis.
2. Discussion/ Concept Formation
1. Each group will present their output in the class.
2. The group should discuss thoroughly the answer of the guide questions in the activity.
3. The group will be graded using the “COOPERATIVE GROUP WORK RUBRIC”.
4. After the class presentation, the teacher will have the feedback and clarrifications on the
concepts that was misconcepted
Plant needs inorder to grow
Reactants on photosynthesis
Product of Photosynthesis
Similarities of Photosynthesis and cell respiration
How can organisms use energy brough in the form of Photosynthesis directly?
C. Generalization
How do the photosynthesis and respiration diferr in terms of
a. major feature
b. chemical events
D. Application/Valuing
How do cell transform, store, and use energy to maintain the survival of organism?
E. Evaluation
1. Each group 1 members will find a partner from group 2 members.
2. The teacher will identify partners who will do the “A” Goup word list and who will do the
“B” Group word list .
3. The partner will help one another in sorting the words given.
4. The students are instructed to look for a general and specific word.
5. The score is true to each partner.
“A” Group Word List “B” Group Word List
• photosynthesis • stroma
• glucose broken down • oxidative phosphorylation
• light energy • water
• energy released • cytoplasm
• Krebs cycle • glycolysis
• respiration • oxygen
• chloroplast • thylakoids
• glucose created • light-dependent reaction
• mitochondrion • Calvin cycle
• energy stored
• carbon dioxide
F. Agreement
Construct/ Make a song, Venn Diagram.Illustration , poster or anything you wish to make
that can describe the major feature and chemical event of photosynthesis and respiration.
