Hears Field Report: Health Emergency Management Staff

Tropical Depression Bucatcat made landfall in Brgy. Pob. Alangalang, Leyte on June 12, 2023, causing severe damage. Over 1,000 individuals were displaced across 4 evacuation centers. Basic health services were still being provided by the partially damaged Rural Health Unit, with more severe cases referred to the only functioning public hospital in the area. Medical response teams were deployed and an inter-agency meeting was convened to coordinate disaster response efforts, while supplies ran low and an request was made to the provincial health office for aid. No major health issues or casualties had been reported as of the latest situation report.

Ocurrence: June Occurrence: 7:45 AM Region: VIII Province: North Leyte
12, 2023.
Brief Description:

Brgy. Pob. Alangalang, Leyte where the eye of Tropical Depression (Super Typhoon Bucatcat) was located 40km North
Leyte with maximum sustained wind of 210kph near the center and gustiness of up to 190kph. Disrupted lifelines
including communication sites, electric supply, roads and bridges were not passable which resulted to the delay of
external aid. Limited supply of potable water and water source is doubtful.

C. Actions Taken (Include information on number and types of services, manpower and supplies provided in the field)
1. Operation Center activated and manned by three (3) EOD’s.
2. Inter-agency meeting started and lead by the LCE and MDRRM officer. LCE declared state of calamity of the municipality.
3. Disaster response through cluster approach to establish health and safety of the community.
4. Medical Response team provided services to the victims.
5. Monitored situation status and & updates through all types of media (radio, cellphone and internet)
6. Coordinated with the Provincial Health Team Leader of North Leyte and Provincial HEMS Coordinator for the provision of
updates on their respective situations and response/action taken.
7. Decreased supplies in the WASH Logistics. Requisition made to the PDOH.
8. RHU Alangalang damaged but still functioning providing basic health services (wound treatment, vitamins and antibiotics) .
Unmanageable cases referred to the nearest hospital.
9. No untoward incident reported as of 5:00 PM today.
