Elegantry: Water Storage Tank Hydraulic Calculations: 1

This document contains calculations for water storage and pumping systems for a commercial building. It determines that the total required water storage capacity is 228 cubic meters, including 58 cubic meters for domestic water with a 1 day storage duration and 170 cubic meters for fire protection water with a 1 hour storage duration. It also includes calculations for a domestic water booster pumping system with 3 pumps each pumping 110 GPM and requiring 14 horsepower. Finally, it provides calculations for 5 submersible sump pumps located in basement sump pits, determining pump flow rates, static heads, losses and total pump heads.

Water Storage Tank Hydraulic Calculations:

1. Domestic Water Capacity Required:

For OFFICE with 449 PERs and daily consumption of 50 lit/Per./day.
For RESTURANT with 2480 M2 .
For COMM. with 2694 M2 .

TOTAL STORAGE DOM. WATER = 20+25+13 = 58 M3

1. Fire Protection Water Capacity Required :

According to NFPA 14
pump flow rate = 750 GPM for first riser + 250 GPM for any additional
riser
by using one combined fire water risers;

750 GPM x 3.785 x 60
Fire Protection Water Capacity = = 170 m³
1000

Storage capacity Storage duration

Domestic Water 58 m³ 1 day

Fire Protection Water 170 m³ One hour

Total 228 M³
I‐ Domestic Water Booster Pumping System:

PP‐ 1, 2 & 3
Static Head = 26 m
Residual Head = 7m
Losses = 9 m
Total Pump Head = 52 m
Pump Flow Rate = 200 GPM
Safe factor 10% = 220 GPM

P1, 2, 3 = 110 GPM

Pump Power Consumption = 14 hp

II‐ Submersible Pumps Hydraulic Calculations:

1.1 SWP (1) Submersible Waste Water Pumps room at Mechanical Room:
Two pumps with flow rate with safety 10% = 3.5 L/S EACH
Static Head = 5 m

Losses = 1.5 m
Total Pump Head = 7.5 m

Static Head = 12 m
Losses = 3 m
Total Pump Head = 15 m

For :‐
Total discharge = 10.5 l/s
3 pumps with flow rate with safety 10% = 3.5 l/s EACH
Static Head = 12 m

Losses = 3 m
Total Pump Head = 15 m

1.4 Sump pit (03) Submersible Soil Pumps at B3:
For :‐
Total discharge = 10.5 l/s
3 pumps with flow rate with safety 10% = 3.5 l/s EACH
Static Head = 12 m
Losses = 3 m
Total Pump Head = 15 m

1.5 Sump pit (04) Submersible Soil Pumps at B3:
For :‐
Total discharge = 8.5 l/s

Static Head = 12 m
Losses = 2.5 m
Total Pump Head = 14.5 m
