POPCORN From Scratch

This document provides instructions for making popcorn from scratch using a pot on the stove. It recommends using 3 tbsp of oil per cup of popcorn kernels and heating the oil until it smokes before adding the kernels. Once the kernels start popping, the pot should be constantly shaken over high heat until the popping slows and then stops. The popcorn is then poured into a bowl and seasoned with melted butter or other flavors before eating.

POPCORN from Scratch…very basic.

Buy a great big stainless pot w a lid.

Put 3 tbsp. of oil (peanut or other “high smoke point” oil) per cup of popcorn seeds.

Organic, multi-colored is my favorite.

Zap a cube of REAL butter in your Micro, or pan melt it on the stove.

For the popcorn , crank it up to Mach 6 (highest temp.)

When you see a puff of oil smoke, dump the kernels in, slap the lid on.

Once the popcorn starts popping, start to scoot/shake pot around constantly on the stove-eye
(heat source).

When the popping starts to slow, turn heat off and keep shaking until popping stops.

Immediately pour into a bowl so the popcorn doesn’t scorch.

Add your favorite seasonings (melted butter, salt, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper,
etc.) and toss/stir.

Eat.
